I think I may have posted a similar thread but I now understand that metrofibre is my fibre provider and I can select my ISP.

The telkom LTE speeds of late have just become unbearable esp 4pm-11pm dropping from 150mb to sub 1mb, it just doesnt work.

So Metrofibre did our area installation last year and I ensured I got the box right where I want it in the house, hopefully this makes things a little easier.

Prices for all 100/100 seem to be around 899 considering this is R200 more than the telkom LTE 2tb deal not bad at all - we wfh internet is our lifeline, we do have backups though.

So my question is which ISP? Im a bit scared as I feel like this is a "how long is a piece of string" question. Maybe I should say which ISP to avoid?

Current options we are considering are WebsquadZA, Coolideas and VOX

Coolideas has (had?) a really strong following on the forums. Personally I'd opt for one that doesn't require a long term contract.

Yeah month to month is one of the big draw cards, of the three vox is 12 months rest are month to month

Cool Ideas, Afrihost or Websquad, pretty much anyone with a rep here that can solve support queries.

I've been with all three and my favourite remains Afrihost, due to support received here.

Cool Ideas has a super stable network (When I last used it), WebSqaud has great latency to the US and Afrinatic always goes out of his way to assist.

Afrihost gets my vote.

Experience has been very good overall since moving to fibre with them.

Good self-service portal. Very timeous the once I had a line down issue. Good “free” hardware and overall excellent speeds.

Also ahead of the curve with IPv6.

**** Vox. I’ve seen nothing but problems with them and their little managed box bullshit.

Thanks for the thumbs up

@Snyper564 You can have a look at what we offer here. https://www.afrihost.com/fibre/provider/metro-fibre

We cover install, activation and free router (not free to use)

We have a fixed 6 months cancellation fee of R999. R249 for router delivery or collect at Afrihost HQ for free and have a cup of coffee :giggle:
Is there a reason you guys aren't listed on FibreTiger? At R897 that's a really sweet deal.

EDIT: I see the deal is listed there, but as 50/50

I'm not sure what the terms or requirements are for advertising on their platform that is something I need to ask Branding but we focus on mybroadband mostly as it's quite successful.

Im likely looking at this

Assuming if I stay with you longer than 6 months then there is essentially no cancellation fee and it goes to "month-to-month"?

Yes so it's always month to month. If you cancel before 6 months the system automatically adds the R999 cancellation fee. After 6 months if you do cancel there will be no fees. You can cancel anytime before the 15th of the month for same month but we obviously don't want anyone to cancel but those are the terms.

Router is yours to keep no matter what happens after.

sweet thanks!

So as I mentioned metrofibre did the install and I have the physical fibre box in the room in the house to be used.

What is the likely go live time if I signed up esp as everything is "ready" my side?

It will still require an appointment for an ONT to be installed. Depending on how busy the queue for scheduling is it might still happen this week or early next week latest.

They heard the threats and came right

I've personally been with CoolIdeas and have had 0 issues or congestion or downtime. Support has always been great as well. I AM on Openserve so that has helped as well but yeah I'd vouch for them

If i were to leave CI id go for Afrihost, Websquad and Rocketnet (in that order)

I wish more ISPs thought this.
