Time for Half-Life Alyx

I enjoyed it on my HTC Vive, but its such a mission to always connect everything I have not bothered again.
need to make sure you have a large room to enjoy properly, standing position gets boring.
only played it for around 25 minutes and enjoyed it a lot and told myself i definitely will play more when I'm relaxed.
Still waiting to be relaxed.
I suppose I'll do it when on leave.

But will say from the experience I had it was great, True to the Half Life story and seeing it in VR was breathtaking.
the depth and size of it all. I'm sure if you're Half Life fan will love it.

What you mean. It's basically launching steam VR and putting on the headset and grabbing the controllers. The only beef I have is charging the controllers which I forgot. :( Waiting.

Beyond any doubt, the gold standard in VR.... As much as I'd like to share, everything would be a spoiler...

What I will say is, I was truly hooked the very second I tried to put a bucket on my head... and it worked...

Any dev that puts effort into accommodating idiots like me have earned their kudos...

Honestly, I have hordes of VR titles in my library - this is the only one I've replayed.

/Oculus Rift S

When does the game take place btw? Hope it's not set after Ep2 because I probably won't ever play this

It's before HL2.

And I can already say you'd really want to play this. Something gives me this idea that there is going to be important plot points relating to the events leading up to EP2.

Started it out asking why the hell do I get so much ammo. Valve: "Tadaa here's why."
Anyway. The gun mechanic is superb. For a change you actually have to think about multiple things and do the actions. It's funny as hell under stress when there's more than 1 zombie and more than 1 headcrab in the same fight. I've never been this cautious of these guys and it's fun as hell. Now that I bumped into everything in my VR room I'll give this masterpiece 2 thumbs up.

Nah, not gonna buy VR just for one game. VR is not for me. I prefer to sit comfortobly still while gaming thanks :p

I can just watch a walkthrough if I really care about the story. I'll wait for HL3 which I'm sure is coming soon haha. Surely that won't be vr as well?

I'm really tempted to buy a secondhand Oculus Quest just for this and then sell it back again when i'm done.

There is no suggestion that HL3 will ever happen. In my opinion it won't happen and if the HL2 story has a continuation it will be in VR.

wish they made a version for a Google Cardboard VR set,
so you can do everything with a mouse, but can look around

if you play it you quickly see the hand motion is exactly what makes the input vastly different from any fps game. The interaction is the game.

Now you cannot just press r and the player reloads. You have to physically gravity grab, pickup or do the over the shoulder backpack grab of a magazine, Insert it into the gun, remember to cock it, aim and fire. With the shotgun you click to open, insert your shells close it with your hand and cock it.

It’s fun and unnerving when the pressure is on.

Yeah, it was an amazing game.
The interactivity with the world is what sells it, and with VR you really get a sense of scale.

but im correct in saying you cant psychically walk forward?
you hold a button and then you advance?

so yes, agree VR is cool, but its a bit expensive for many people.
will wait till the price comes down for us plebs.

You can or you can use 2 different holoport mechanisms. You have the option to change the motion anytime.

What setup are you running @Moosedrool, Oculus?

HTC Vive Pro. Would love the index controllers though But I prefer the Vive's Oled screens.

They have added more QoL improvements to the game since release and also added more things to interact with.

Why stop there maybe they should make a version for Samsung smart fridges so you can do everything with your finger while getting tasty snacks
