Ok so I'm on a Business Call contract and seems like the Smart Contracts are the way to go so I'm looking at the Smart Standard R229

I currently have the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 and I can't say that the current phones are all that exciting...a pity the Nexus 4 is not here! Rumour is that 8ta might bring in it in but not holding my breath.

Thinking of getting a REALLY cheap\crap phone and getting the rest cash, unless someone has another idea?

Time to extend your cell jail sentence. lol.

Maybe look into buying the Nexus 4 cash and go on the contract without a phone..Much cheaper that way.
Esquire was selling the Nexus 4 a little while back, they might still have stock.

Hmm, I know Zakdoc has stock for R5500 but to be honest I don't feel the Nexus 4 is compelling enough compared to the Galaxy Nexus. Maybe I'll just renew and then look at what phones are available in June or something and buy it cash.

I think when my current contract expires I'm gonna go for a sim-only cell C contract. 6 months at a time. Keep options open, and decouple my device purchases from the contract.

Phone costs down from R600 p/m to just R50 p/m. No more oob shark or any other contract nasties.

Indeed.
Though, interestingly, the FNB offer for the iphone 5 32GB costs exactly the same as Cell C's contract cost for an iPhone 5 32 ....

I'm rethinking their total banking costs p/m. Seems a lot on my platinum account...

R120 or so?

You won't get the same benefits cheaper anywhere.

Not just that, but total sum of all benefits and things going on. Going to query this with my banker, it's roughly around R260 for this month.

How does number porting work? 6 month contract is not a bad idea as long as I can keep my number.

Sony Xperia T. Amazing phone and Sony just released Jelly Been update that increases battery life. Love mine :)

Just tell your new provider when you take out the contract that you want to port...

All of our contracts are now run this way. In every single case we were able to buy the device cheaper than the contract cost worked out at.

hi guys, i'm newly registered here and i thought i'd post in this thread instead of creating a totally new one.

Situation: i had an iphone 3g 8gb, which was slow and really frustrating until it eventually broke and had to switch to the only phone i had laying around, a Nokia x6 (i know its ancient and a piece of crap) and i feel really cut off from my world. I'm in the IT industry and do photography part time so alot of my life has to be connected to social media and email/IM etc. i really want a solid android device. Reason is i feel disconnected with the world currently and iphone didn't really do it for me.

I was 2 seconds away from getting the s3 mini but decided against it because i hadn;t researched the phone yet and on smart light its 100mb data 100 sms's(who sms's these days anyways) and 70 off peak minutes.

What do you guys think of the s3 mini and is R 229 a good deal per month on this phone? should i wait 1 or 2 months for better deals if they ever come?
