3 months down the line, after the introduction of the new per gig price, should be enough time for Telkom to realize that the 3GIG they offer is not enough and that a bigger cap (10gig) would not affect anything.

Thousands of people have downloaded huge amounts of data without affecting anything so, why not reconsider the ridiculous cap offered and start trying to conquer the South African public back?

I, for the past year, have used ADSL and 10GIG would be quite acceptable.

I know that it should be unlimited usage at an acceptable flat rate but, if Telkom wants to get back some of the credibility lost, its now time to start.

Does anyone perhaps know what Telkom pays for bandwidth? Would be quite interesting to see those figures.

they pay for bandwidth in line speed, not in quantity of GB's.. they could easily increase the cap, but they prefer to capitalise on the situation and make us suffer.

i would rephrase that - 10gig would be more acceptable, however 30gig would be much better.

I'm on 10gig now, and its not a pretty picture. Its simply just not enough. Comming from 30Gig, that was Just about enough for the month

I for one think that 10gig should be the minimum package.

30 Gb 100% for me although no cap will be the better!

I used about 10gig's a month on my 4mbit line in the states, thats without really downloading. So, yes, a larger cap is NEEDED

We should not be negotiating with terrorists.

No Line rental, no cap, reasonable once-off installation fee with just a monthly fee for having access (that is compararble in price to say Aus & NZ, not Brazil and Turkmenistan)

yes i absolutely agree, saw a cousin from zambia recently, they have uncapped wireless internet, static ip, its just sad...

The cap enforcement ws introduced as a means of removing uncapped local access, thus forcing you to pay more without having to go to icasa to have tarrif increase approved. as by product it also scews all the other isp's.

Just curious where you got this infomration from?

Hmm.. I've pulled 80 gigs in the last few days from my 3 megabit connection here in China, and when you're pulling as much as I am (roughly 80 gigs a week now) you really appreciate how pathetic the 3 gig cap is. Add to that the whole concept (and cost) of per gig billing.. it's just plain sickening.

What on earth would use up 320 gigs a month? Presumably it is some kind of 24 hour business connection with many many users.

Nope.. It's just me, a newshosting unlimited account and my 3 megabit line :D

Telkom turned me into a bandwidth whore.

Why would some one have to stay awake to download anything?

Who the hell told you ADSL is a privilege? Last time i checked, I was paying a sh1tload for my ADSL, how the fcck do you get off telling me its a privilege?

"Oh Telkom you are so big and just so fantastic. Thank you for the privilege of coughing up a large chunk of my hard earned cash every month for crappy, slow internet access.
Thank you for the privilege of a 3 gig cap Even though the rest of the world has uncapped adsl, I know its because you, in your great wisdom, know what it is that I really need.
Thank you oh mighty Telkom for allowing me all these privileges, even though I commited the most heinous sin of all. The sin of being born a South African. Becasue as we all know, South Africans are not worthy of true broadband. We are not worthy to partake in the rewards offered by uncapped broadband access. We are not worthy of economic growth or access to free information. Please oh great Telkom, show me the error of my evil abusing ways, so that I to may one day enter the promised land of affordable communications.
All this I ask though I know I am not worthy.
Yours is the monopoly, the power and the profits for ever and ever and ever and ever amen. "

Telkom have tricked you into thinking that a 10gb cap would be ok and that 30 would be more then enough, and its bull**** we should have unlimited use of the internet and that is that. Open the market and watch Telkom drown...

I am 100% sure that all South Africans agree with you but, lets be realistic, that will not happen in a very very long time.

So why not try one step at the time, we are in Africa remember?

We have not been brainwashed we have been reconditioned to adapt. ;)

Things here will only happen when ISPs realize that its pointless fighting Telkom individually.
