I can understand the reasoning behind it, but good luck to designing something to replace the existing architecture without seriously disrupting the internet. I.e. they will have to plan some sort of transition. I guess it will happen sooner or later, with/without me knowing about it.
O boy! I was wondering when something like this is going to get proposed. I have always laughed to myself how the internet is getting out of control for a lot of powers that don't want it to. For example you can spread your own message, expose secrets, share movies and music etc etc. Communication to the masses etc. The internet is a very powerful tool and the way that it is means that it cannot be controlled by govermnents all over the world as well as by corporate concerns. A lot can be undermined by the internet and it stands in the way of control. Naturally this must be very concerning to these parties if you see what I am getting at. The only way around this will be to redesign the internet so that it can be more controlled and now it has finally been proposed. Why else would it need to be redesigned. Everything works fine for most of the users. Only problems are spam, viruses and of course maybe some kind of more intelligent search engine that doesn't spit out ads and really does know everything. Guess we might as well enjoy ourselves while we can
1. How long will the net be down ?
2. Can we even live without the internet for a week/months/years
3. What about the people making a living of the net ?
