Doesn't "doze on the go" pretty much do the same thing these days, without requiring root?
Doze has never worked as well as it should have. Greenify and Amplify should be built into Android by now. Amplify limits the (stupidly frequent) wake intervals for apps.
Greenify paid with root and Xposed can hibernate all apps and wake them upon receiving their GCM request (Android's cloud push notification network). So even WhatsApp and Telegram function normally while hibernated. It boggles my mind that this isn't stock behavior. Wtf was the point of the GCM network then.
