Tips to Boost your eBucks

My old man didn't so much spend all his eBucks ; rather shall we say FNB took them all away with their dormancy fee. I wonder will he qualify for the draw ;)

Looking at this ebucks stuff again, the Global Account actually looks very attractive to gain points on platinum. Its like 3000 points to have average of R10 000 in a Global account. That is double the points of a R10 000 investment option.

So the real question is, what is the charges to move money between currencies, and how much you lose doing so.

Edit: NVM its like R50 to transfer money to/from this account. Quite expensive, and interest rates are pretty low too. Not sure if this is even worth it at all.

I opened an Indian rupee account and interest rates are better at 6%
I would think that the exchange rate fluctuations is where the true potential lies from an investment perspective. i.e We've lost about 30% against the USD since Jan 2013.

How much did you put in to make sure you get points towards eBucks reward levels?

The ebucks rules say how much you need to have for your selected currency, in the same row it says you get 3000 points. 90 000 rupees, or 1000 pound/euro ect. Usually works out to +- R10 000 worth.

I have to deposit R17000 into global account to get equivalent Rupee amount and it has generated R70 till date as interest.

1 Pound is worth R17.59 at the moment Euro is 13.85 at the moment but they generate less interest compared to Indian A/C

The interest rate is almost irrelevant. You want to buy forex for countries that will remain strong relative to other countries. I speak under correction but India is a developing nation, yeah? The Indian Rupee has lost 10% against the USD in the last year. The same story the previous year and likewise the year before that (they are doing as badly as us against the USD). So you may gain 6% in interest in one year but you lose 4% in real terms if the trend continues.

Have an FNB Investment with a minimum balance of:
• R10 000 to R49 999 - 1500
• R50 000 or more - 2500

Is it wishful thinking that the Share Investor balance counts towards the above?

Yep. That earns you some points elsewhere though, if I remember correctly.

Guys the rules for the million ebucks worries me:

The rules

Who can enter?

Active personal and business eBucks accounts, meaning you've earned or spent eBucks in the past six months.

New eBucks accounts, providing you also have an FNB or RMB Private Bank account.

Who can't enter?

eBucks accounts that already have a balance of zero and have not been active in the last six months.

eBucks staff members.

Are there are any limits or restrictions?

You will be entered into the draw as soon as your eBucks balance hits zero.

You don't need to spend any further eBucks earned if you've already reached eB0 during the competition period.

There are no limits to the ways you can spend your eBucks. You can spend at the eBucks Shop, with eBucks Travel, in our partner stores, on partner websites and with FNB or RMB Private Bank electronic channels.

Any cancellations or refunds that occur after your balance has reached zero will remove your entry from the draw. You will still need to spend your remaining eBucks balance.

Spend all your eBucks between 14 October and 31 December 2014.

My account has been active?

As far as I am aware, if you have been earning ebucks your account Is active.

My boss has an ebucks account, but he doesn't use any of his Fnb facilities so doesn't earn or spend anything. He would be excluded.

That's my take on it
