Tips to Boost your eBucks

I think you are way better off buying Makro vouchers than earning interest on the ebucks moved into the investing account. my 5c

Yea, I'm just testing it.

The thing with that is I tend to buy gadgets I don't need or really use. This may be the more responsible way, but we'll see if I stop. Not a contract at least

Depends on your needs. If you buy a Makro voucher, then you have to buy something from Makro. Let's say you buy a TV - it's actually a depreciating asset so you're losing in the long run. With an interest-bearing account, you're earning interest on money that you've gotten back for free - a much better option for the long term...

True Mike. I have a flexi deposit account just to be on level 5 (R10 000). The best way to save in my eyes if you have a flexi bond, prepay your bond.

On the other hand, I have R11 500 in ebucks in my ebucks account (earning no interest). I sometimes think is that good or bad ?

Ok, depositing the eBucks into an investment account is news to me.

I've never read anything about it, does anyone have a link with info on it?

How it works

To invest your eBucks you must:
- Have a 12 month Flexi Fixed Deposit Account
- Be an eBucks member
- Make a monthly scheduled payment of R100 or more into your 12 Month Flexi Fixed Deposit Account.

- You select the percentage of the eBucks you've earned that you want to invest.
- You cannot invest all your eBucks.
- Your eBucks will be added to your Flexi Fixed Deposit account every quarter.

Its on the ebucks site. The only rule is, you need to have the investment account for more than 1 year to be able to move ebucks earnings into it.
Where'd you see that? I can only see that the investment term needs to be 12 months...

The issue with prepaying your investment ... if you can beat 9.5% on your bond to earn interest, then I am all in for it. Flexi savings accounts earn 6.30% per year.

Go to the url ... on the right hand side under the safe with the blue money .. "HOW IT WORKS"

Yeah that 12 months is a reference to the investment term - all fixed deposits must have a term associated with it, after which the account matures and you can withdraw the full amount. It doesn't mean that you need to have the account for 12 months or more...

I asked ebucks this question last week, and they said if the account isn't 1 year old, I cant move ebucks earnings into it.

Do you say that is possible Mike ?

This is what ebucks replied:

"Please be advised to split your eBucks between your eBucks account and Flexi Fixed deposit account, you need to hold a 12 month Flexi Fixed account and meet the qualifying rules. eBucks will be credited to the Flexi Fixed account every quarter and not monthly"

Is it too late to be a fee saver client now?

I have had the bundle pricing since Feb.

If you are not on the option now, it will cost you R50 000 in your cheque account to waive fees monthly.

I was eyeing the 199 bundle where your current and CC account fees are linked.

Yeah,

was hoping there was time to change it before July and keep the R15k option.

The fee saver was discontinued last year already. If you are not on the option now, it will cost you R50k as a minimum balance.

That is bloody a lot in my eyes !

I'm a 22k-25k ebucks a month customer...

I opened and started pushing ebucks into my Flexi account from month 2. I've been playing with the percentage... which is currently sitting at 100% ebucks into the account.
Why? Cos i end up buying cr@p that i dont really need... so when this matures in Sept - i'll have around 20k to buy new cupboards for my one bedroom...

I do however think the best return is Makro vouchers...

If you are disciplined, you can also buy the makro voucher & use it to replace existing spend rather than buy luxury.
Then take the money you would have spent elsewhere and invest it yourself.
The catch to this is that ebucks earn will drop for the spend you replaced in the following month.

Thanks a lot!

Flip, now I need an investment account for a year first :erm:

No you don't need it for a year first, it matures after a year.

The benefit to taking out this investment account, is that it also counts towards your RL points for having an investment account. It's a no-brainer IMO. Spend some of your eB on Makro vouchers, and invest the rest...
