Tips to Boost your eBucks

Please can you guys explain what this means?

I don't understand what the "total monthly qualifying spend" is.
There's qualifying criteria to have a Platinum account.

What is the "total monthly qualifying spend" amount? I'm sure this is basics, I'm having a slow Sunday.
Thanks

Total of all swipes/online purchases on your cards. If you exceed the cap on some spend categories then the extra portion doesn't count as qualifying spend.

Ah, I get it, thank you. I thought there was some kind of qualifying spend amount that had to be achieved.

But if I don't have one I still earn ebucks on the transaction when paying with the CC, right?

Do I earn more/double when I do have one?
You will still earn at your standard swipe rate on the cc and yes you will earn more if swipe your ebucks card.

Basically the total of all swipes and online transactions.

Excluding EFT's etc. Including Prepaid and Electricity through FNB though.

It prevents you from getting ebucks on say R4000 of petrol if you only spent R5000 on your credit card.

Why the drama. It's free just get one.

You only earn the "extra" percentage for Makro and Dischem.

What drama?

I'm unsure about something so I ask questions.

I would have thought if you swipe your ebucks card that you will only get those ebucks and not the one from the swipe of the CC.

Nice if I get double points then. Wife does all our medical and bathroom shopping at Dischem.

Watch out for this:
You will earn eBucks and Dis-Chem benefit points on a single transaction when you produce both cards.
You can't earn eBucks:
if you pay with a voucher or gift card,
on prescriptions,
if you buy airtime,
if you redeem your Dis-Chem loyalty or benefit points,
if you buy plastic bags.

What I don't understand, is the complete transaction disqualified or only the plastic bags?

Howzit guys,

I want to book a 2 night stay for my folks in cape town. I have looked on ebucks travel and the cheapest place in cape town is 1700 per night via the site. You also pay a R400 admin fee that goes to people who manage the flat, R100 ebucks admin fee and breakage deposit. I personally dont think booking accommodation thru ebucks travel is worth it.

Is there any other way that i can use ebucks to book accommodation, besides kulula cos they have a limited amount of establishments listed on their site.

Thanx in advanced.

I personally wouldn't bother, there are better ways to spend your eBucks. That's my eB2 contribution :)

You just sounded very resistant to getting the card for some reason.

Checkers till operator swiped my purchase as a budget transaction tonight.... Now i will have to have to go down there and have them reverse it and put it through as straight instead!!

It frustrates me endlessly that, that option even shows up on my card.

@Gozmit, I am on the 'Full Amount' option (screenshot below). I usually pay before or on the due date and the auto payment never happens. If I forget the autopayment happens a day or two after the due date but there is no penalty applied, it's like they apply it retroactively. Not sure if others have noticed this.

I was looking at it this weekend for someone else and I wonder what the difference is between what I'm on and the 'Full Statement Balance' option. To my thinking it should be the same thing, but perhaps not!

You should just make your budget option R0 on the card, that way you can't use it by mistake. Unless you keep it for a dooms day and need actual credit for who knows what.

Even easier ... just log into FNB banking and pay the transaction when it shows (there's a section pay budget). Time and effort spared !

I noticed the double dipping (Rewards wise) post for Dischem and thought I would also add this one:

When filling up with fuel, I always go to BP, I then get to double dip as well (Well, triple dip would be more correct I assume?)
1. FNB fuel rewards (YAY!)
2. Avios points (Towards flights with BA, very slow build up, but is free so trying it out)
3. 50% cash back from Discovery Insure (Worth about R400 - R500 per month cash on average for me with only the free checks done + TWT safety check)

Happy rewards hunting, guys!
