Just contact your personal banker and ask her to upgrade. As easy as that. :)

I found out why I did not get my smart device Cell C data last month. Apparently you need to use it at least once in a while (per month I guess) or it goes into a deactivated state and then you don't get your data allocated.

Please note that the SIM needs to be utilized as previous data allocation had stopped due to none activity on the Cell C Sim.

You should just make your budget option R0 on the card, that way you can't use it by mistake. Unless you keep it for a dooms day and need actual credit for who knows what.
Yeah, I only have it because i wanted my straight balance to be rounded down to the nearest 10k. My budget cap is like R7600 or something silly like that.

Even easier ... just log into FNB banking and pay the transaction when it shows (there's a section pay budget). Time and effort spared !
True... I forgot about that, will try it.

@Gozmit, I am on the 'Full Amount' option (screenshot below). I usually pay before or on the due date and the auto payment never happens. If I forget the autopayment happens a day or two after the due date but there is no penalty applied, it's like they apply it retroactively. Not sure if others have noticed this.

I was looking at it this weekend for someone else and I wonder what the difference is between what I'm on and the 'Full Statement Balance' option. To my thinking it should be the same thing, but perhaps not!

I've changed the credit card autopayment option to "Minimum Payment" just yesterday (was on fixed amount before).

I'm just paranoid that if I chose the "full amount" option, and pay the full amount prior to due date and then the bank still debits the full amount as well. My monthly finances are simply not going to be sufficient to cover the full amount of the credit card twice in one month. I'll update what happens on the "Minimum Payment" option at the end of this month.

This might help you with the different payment options: https://www.fnb.co.za/downloads/credit-cards/13081_FNB-Ccard-Payment-Solutions_Emailer_r6_split.pdf

Credit card clients can select one of six convenient Auto Payment Solutions which will be applied monthly to pay your account on
a selected date as chosen by you:
• Full Straight Account Balance – Pay the full outstanding straight facility balance on your credit card
• Fixed Amount – Allows you to pay a fixed amount of your choice. (Please note that this amount cannot be less than the minimum
amount owed)
• Full Amount – Settles the full outstanding balance including your budget instalment(s) for the relevant month
• Full Straight Statement Balance – Settles the full amount outstanding on the straight facility as indicated on your statement
• Minimum Payment Amount Due – Only the minimum amount outstanding on your account is deducted – 5% of your full
outstanding balance
• Percentage Payment – This option allows you to select what percentage of your outstanding balance you would like to be
processed every month, this amount can be anything from 5 -100%

Hey guys,

Is it possible to make a hotel booking @ checkers and pay using the 40% off gift card?

How does car hire work? Do i get the 40‰ off directly from avis or do i have to go thru fnb's inflated travel site?

Thanx

Never heard of Checkers doing hotels...that's a new one.

As for the travel it's through the website only I believe.

Checkers has access to the computicket system. You can do bus, airline and concert tickets. Computicket also does package deals local and international.

'Full Amount' is the way to go. I often pay in full before the due date and they don't deduct the full amount again, they deduct nothing. If you are really worried, you could select Full Amount, then pay say R500 before due date, then you will see they should debit you the full amount less R500 on the due date.

Thanks for this. I see they omitted the word 'Straight' from the dropdown list on the Online Banking page for this, but it makes sense now with what you've posted here.

So I wanted to make some payments on EasyPay today, but their server was overloaded or something and I couldn't proceed to pay or even login most of the day. Tonight I finally managed to login and attempted to pay 2 accounts in one easypay transaction for R870 and then my rates payment succeeded but my telkom payment failed. Never would have thought that could have happened. However they reserved the R870 and there was some message about the telkom amount would be refunded.

I wanted to cram in some more payments so I also paid Truworths and Telkom via their respective websites after 11pm. Will be interesting to see if any of my payments today reflect as being in the month of August. I suspect not. Will report back in a few days times.

Ask them if it's possible. But unless you get it in writing from someone quite senior I would not bank my life on it being possible :p

Haha, can you believe it!? ... I did the very same "double transaction" last week with exactly the same result: Rates payment succeeded, and Telkom failed.
I paid R450 each, so EasyPay reserved R900. But then the R450 for Telkom did indeed get reversed. It shows up on your EasyPay history as "Cancelled" or something like that.
For me, the R450 for rates only showed up 2 or 3 days later on my CC balance.

[aside]
I tried paying my Telkom account again on EasyPay immediately after the failure, and it succeeded (...I paid R451 just to differentiate it from the failed payment :))
