Tips to Boost your eBucks

I move it to my Savings Pocket; I think moving back from credit card may incur some charges..

Just got an overdraft, and a savings pocket. So how do I take money from the overdraft facility? Does my cheque account have to be on R0 and then only go into overdraft?

Am I correct that the fee is R57 to use overdraft, and then R22 back if you dont exceed your overdraft, therefore R35.

Using the overdraft will now put me in RL4 on Premier. I hope I get atleast an extra eB350 to compensate for the overdraft fee.

When I did it that one time, and I wasn't allocated the points, I queried it with the eBucks team. The response

I am now confused, because paying the credit card fee for "convenience purchases" of R2.20 has been irritating, so I would really like to purchase it with the cheque card instead.
That is absolutely incorrect. Purchases through the app come off your cheque account, they aren't facilitated using a cheque card (i.e. at no point do you pass through your cheque card number). You only forfeit the points if you explicitly use your cheque card (i.e. at a POS, online purchases, etc.)

You should escalate this...

Hi Guys

First time posting in this thread. Glad to see there are other people who have worked out the ebucks system to their advantages...

I have a question, I have been having repeated problems with FNB and getting the correct allocation of points. Recently I went through quite a dispute process with them regarding the use of the revolving loan. I was using between 10% and 100% a month and not getting the points, then over the weekend I made my complaint the bastards literally changed the rules online so you had to have an outstanding balance at month end. Anyway at least that rule is clear now and I know what to do to get the points.

Now this month I haven't been allocated points for using my overdraft, when I clearly used more than 10% on the 5th November. Additionally I have received inadequate points for both my Checkers spend and my Fuel spend. I went through my credit card and totalled all my spend and worked out how many ebucks I should have got, but I have not got the correct amount of points.

My question is, how many other people are dealing with this? And is there any recommendations on how to deal with this? I'm getting rather tired of going through a complaints process...

Hi and welcome

Check your transaction dates. It is NOT the day that you swiped but the day that the merchant "banked" the transaction. So something done on the 30th but only uploaded to FNB on the 2nd will not show until the next month.

The day you get the sms/email of the transaction is this "banked" transaction date. So if this comes through on the 2nd it's considered the following month's transaction.

For disputes, rather Twitter @RBJacobs for a quicker resolution...

Such a pain this rule... I had a huge spending month (non Checkers & Fuel spend) for November and about 2.5k Checkers and Fuel spend 'banked' too late for November and pushed through to December :( Will probably end up costing me by the time December is done and dusted :/

edit: I got my SMS notification for 2 out of the 3 transactions on the same day of the transaction back in November but they seem to be ignored for November spend. So even that is not definite indication of the 'banked date'?

edit2: Scrutinising further I see the email notifications for 29 Nov are rather non-descriptive, which I suppose indicates at the time of swiping the bank doesn't know what entity is charging the amount.

i.e. "FNB :-) Rx.xx reserved for purchase from FNB Premier a/c.. "

Look at the calculator how they get their values and compare it to yours.

Some sections are capped, remember that.

Thanks, would the dates in my credit card transaction history on the FNB website not reflect the dates the transaction was "banked"? Cause those are the dates I have worked off..

I have seen the new rule about max reward on fuel of 20% of your total qualifying spend, which may have come into effect (and could explain why I have "under-earned" on fuel). When did this rule come into effect, and how can FNB continuously update rules without even notifying the consumer?

Can't figure out the checkers one... I spent R753.19 between the 4th November and 24th November (dates are from my transaction history)

Multiply this at 15% and you get 1130 ebucks.

I was awarded 456 ebucks...

Given that my R753.19 was made of one purchase of R548.47, and multiple other smalled purhases to the value of R204.72.... It is not possible to arrive at 456 ebucks for the month of november no matter what the dates are....

I know this isn't a very significant amount of money, but it's a matter of principle.

Is anyone else checking their earn against their spend?

Just to double check but I am correct in saying that your rewards level is calculated on the 8th of each month, which is based on your banking behaviour from the previous month. And then that rewards level is applied to your spend for the current month?

Cheers
Nick

Transfer minimum 10% of your OD into cheque, or Savings pocket (so, your account should be -R1000 if your OD is R10 000). This should be done for a period of 24h, excluding weekends.

You are correct in regards to the R35.

NEW! Earn up to 40% back in eBucks on your qualifying FNB Connect contract or when loading FNB Connect prepaid airtime

What exactly is a qualifying contract?

It would seem you cant take those as the dates that the transaction was banked. I have to query this for my own situation too.

This rule has been effect about 2 to 3 years now and the same applies to Checkers as well (was 30% up until 30 June 2015) which is why you are not able to get to the correct figure eB you should be getting back? They did notify FNB customers btw.

I do tend to check Checkers, Fuel, prepaid Electricity, but not the general CC or online spend.

In the past yes, between 8th to 11th of the month but for December they did it a few days earlier (4th in my case) which is probably why I got screwed for transactions done on the 29th but banked sometime after

I assume you are on level 5

Work out what you spend from due date to due date.

Plan B, check out the ebucks calculator. That will show you according to eBucks how they got their values
