Hi there. Have a Ford Focus Hatch and currently running 215/50 R17

1. What other sizes can I put on the car?
2. Does anyone know of a decent place in Joburg to change tires?

Mintys Rosebank, JHB CBD etc, u can't go wrong !

People cleverer than this forum spent years making sure the tyre size is correct, and now you want to screw that up? Anyway, you might find that any other tyre size that will give you the same circumference will be more expensive that what is on at the moment.

225/45/17 has an approx. 2% deviation from the original tyre(so it's within acceptable limits). Google tyre circumference comparison to see the actual values. The 225/45/17 is a lot more common tyre so you should find it cheaper than the 215/50/17.

Thank you, that was the info I was looking for. Will look at this type.

Just keep in mind when changing tire sizes, it is recommend staying you within less than 3% of the diameter/height of the original tire. Any more than this and you face the risk of brake failure. You can you use a tyre calculator to work this out or the tyre retailers experts would suggest the correct plus size for you.
