The game has been out for a while now and I'm looking into buying it on PC. How playable is it on international servers? Would I be better off giving it a skip?

I played beta. Depends on ping, though the game compensates well enough for delay, you get an acceptable experience. However do you really want to support a game that couldn't be bothered to support us? SA companies offered to host MS cloud servers for Titanfall and MS turned their nose up at us. Even Australia got servers, but nope not us.

It is not quite that "easy" to host Azure in SA, Australia got servers to take load hence their dense usage in Asia. However, MS have other plans right here in SA, something which cannot be disclosed at the moment, only that Azure will be coming here but not on on similar basis as their node deployments.

I have been playing since day one. Most of the players in SA have the West European server as their best option, but for some reason mine is the Southeast Asian (170ms ping) server where I met quite a few Australians.

This is not the full-proof indication of what your ping will be but it is something to see what you might expect:
http://azurespeedtest.azurewebsites.net/

I did notice that the website above listed my West Europe server as 200ms ping but in game it was actually more like 300, and sometimes it is the other way around.

If you do not mind the latency that much then it is an option to think of actually getting the game.

The other option is, is to wait for the XboxOne to be released here as most of the services (if not all of it) on the console depends on the Azure servers.

I am actually more excited for the release of Wolfenstein: The New Order.

Are you a rep for MS ?

Explain why it's " Not that " easy " " to host Azure in SA :/ ...

Cause practically speaking: " 1) They arrive .. 2) They plant a few boxes here & there .. 3) They go away " ...

Seeing as how SA companies are offering to host this it's only logical to assume they're capable of such.

End of story.. Everyone is happy.

They're getting paid, we're having fun.

So what's so hard ?

As far as I understand it, MS did not deem our local infrastructure sufficient for hosting Azure servers. Just because some companies offered to host the servers does not mean they actually have the infrastructure in place to do so. They might not know the full requirements for doing so.

I am no MS representative, however we are partners. The article is actually very interesting as larger hosting entities literally came to a conclusion that they are capable while being in discussions with MS. I also had this discussion with a MS technology partner in SA two weeks later (as they concluded with MS) when the Azure/gaming threads emerged on MyBroadband and MyGaming, this when I also made a statement prior this meeting that Azure won’t be coming to SA, but rather Kenya or Nigera, ahem, which will be with Teraco...

The article however state that both IS and Teraco is willing to host Azure in SA, then you also need to look at both IS and Teraco and which business they sell.

Long story short, MS won’t roll out a data centre here soon, but they presented their 5 technology partners in SA with a solution to make Azure available. What this entails is beyond my knowledge as it is undisclosed to me.

So they won't plop a center in SA but much rather in Kenya or Nigeria ?

What is this decision based on ? Do those countries have a much bigger customer base than South Africa or is this future planning for access within the entire continent.

Because either way I have a problem with both those steps.

1) With all due respect to the both of those countries, I seriously (although I could be wrong) doubt that they have more MS customers or demand larger than SA
2) If they refuse to plop a center here that will most probably already start making revenue, why would they run a continent wide operation for such a continent that will probably take decades to fully utilize and or appreciate such a center ? It's a massive contradiction of their monetary progression and what seems to be a "plan".

Then you mentioned that entities came to the conclusion that they are capable..

It seems that a lot of people are " unclear " (and please note I'm not calling you out with this or anything I'd also like to know) has MS actually set out requirements of infrastructure needed to host Azure here ?

Because from an upset gamer point of view it looks like they're not going to say or do anything because they have no better reason to deny us these services. This is simply because instead of saying:

• " South Africa, You are not allowed Azure Centers because a prerequisite to attaining such Centers is a 10 Yottabit per second cable that runs from your continent to other continents for efficient and enjoyable gaming "

Then we'd understand, be sad about it for a while & then later get over it by indulging rather in Sony products by comparison.

Instead they are saying

• " Hey look South Africa, this is going to be awkward to say but we kinda decided that you guys are too slow for our game and we're not gonna release it there.. Sorry about that, no hard feelings we hope! Oh and please don't forget to buy the Xbox One when it finally releases in your country like 6 months after the other guys. Cheers "

And this is assuming that they didn't release the requirements.

Now if they did release these requirements and IS + Teraco is actually capable then they have absolutely no reason to deny us and therefore IS + Teraco know what they're actually talking about and all should be fine. (Although the smarter move from MS is to say nothing at all in case IS & or Teraco meet their req.)

Last but not least

One more thing, your practically speaking is the largest possible mistake in ICT.

I really don't know what you mean by this, it isn't really phrased well. Is the process a large mistake or the feasibility or ??? I really don't know I can't even keep guessing.

But I'm going to go ahead and say that you STILL haven't made it clear why exactly is it hard to put a center here because I'd still like to know.

It is not quite that "easy" to host Azure in SA
