Tito gets 'only' 4.5% raise
25/08/2004 13:32 - (SA)

Johannesburg - South African Reserve Bank (SARB) governor Tito Mboweni sent out a strong signal on the importance of reaching the inflation target by announcing an increase of only 4.5% in his remuneration package.

That is the midpoint of the target of between 3% and 6%.

Last year he faced hefty criticism when his package was increased by 9%.

The average increase for Reseve Bank employees in the current financial year is 5.25%.

Mboweni's total remuneration package for the financial year to end-March 2004 was R2.594m compared with R2.384m the previous year.

Gill Marcus en Dr XP Guma, deputy governors of the SARB, respectively earned R1.476m and R1.465m. Marcus has since left the employment of the Reserve Bank.

When I saw this, I couldn't help thinking about Telkom's CEO and his lucrative salary.

seems like he has learnt his lesson and sorry mate not close to sizwes salery but more realistic and responsible ...

i guess sizwes caddie earns about that ...

I have a better idea. Somebody just stick a "Kick me I am sucking SA dry!" tag on the Telkom CEO's back when he is not looking and see how long it takes for somebody to remove it...

Cheers
Antowan
