I am helping out friends with setting up the above router with 8ta. However it is more a matter of in the land of the blind the one eye is king.

We cannot seem to connect to the internet - browsing and e-mail - nothing -dead.

Everything looks OK from the status, newest firmware as well, inside the router ip address is there a diagnostics option and it pings to google.com. However from the command prompt window ping to google does not work. I do not know what else to look for. I have connected via Wired and wireless.

My 8ta internet works 100% on my own wireless network.

Any ideas from someone with two eyes?

Make sure that the SIM isn't PIN protected.

Secondly, can you see an IP address that the 8ta dongle received on the TP-Link router? There may be some stupid button/setting that you'll have to click to force the router to connect to 8ta Internet.

Lastly, perhaps you need to configure the APN settings, where the APN is Internet, with no username or password.

Could you perhaps do a traceroute to 8.8.8.8 instead? To do that, run the following in Command Prompt: tracert 8.8.8.8

I recall a kind of dongle status tab within the router settings, which showed you the dongle connection status as well as the network signal and connection status.

I think the router ip was 192.168.0.1 or 10.0.0.1
User 'admin' pass 'admin'

check if the modem works in another machine
check if theres 8ta coverage in the area
check if the modem is on the supported device list on the tplink website

you should be able to do an auto setup and it should work fine
maybe try with a different 3g modem?

could be the pin
also the status is usually displayed on the first page?
what does it say under the 3g section?

mine says this:
3G
3G USB Modem: Identify successful
Signal Strength:
54%
IP Address:......../snip

Thanks for your help. However still no progress.

Status:
3G
3G USB Modem: Identify successful
Signal Strength:
54%
IP Address: 41.151.23......and the rest
Everything looks like it should work, except for that it does not work.

The modem is and E303 and is listed(SA not listed on their website, also not listed on Other, but modem is listed on other networks in other countries) and the above status should proof that it is working. It also works if I plug it in directly.
Tried different PC's as well without success -my own 8ta wireless network works fine.

As Pada said, are you able to ping 8.8.8.8 or 208.67.222.222 ?

I have the same router and I seemed to always get an DNS server of 127.0.0.1 but thought it was my PC being stupid. But well could be the router not passing the dns through.

If the above ping is successful, then could well be the DNS.

Thanks for your help. However still no progress.

Just to offer some hope for nothing else, I used that same router with a black CellC modem and an 8ta E367 with no problems.

If it all looks good on the router side, have you tried your pc netork connections/ repair connection or setup new connection?

Is the router (ip) set as your gateway?
My guess is that it isn't, because all indications on the modem seem to show that it should work, with the only exception being that the PC is configured incorrectly.

Well I am typing this using an E303 connected to the router. Thanks for everyone above. Not 100% sure what was the problem, but I did tickle there with the DHCP Settings and changed, reboot and changed the original gateway address
