Driving along the N4 yesterday on our way to Harties we normally do a speed of about 130kph.
We also have Waze on to see where the cops are and promptly slow down to the speed limit where needed.

Just after the Ga-Rankuwa off-ramp we slow down just behind the bend, the Nissan Juke on my left promptly overtakes me and is clearly going faster. No . . . .cop jumps into the road and points at me, pull over.

So hazards on, pull off to the right and come to a stop.
Cop is busy waving his finger at me, like a naughty child that should be scolded.

me: "Yes Mr Officer, How can I help you?"

cop: "You were speeding, did you see the speed sign?"

me: "Yes officer, I was doing 120kph and you didn't pull of the Nissan??"

cop: "What Nissan, But did you see the yellow board showing the speed change?"

me: "No Mr Officer, well in that case you will have to give me a fine"

cop: "Why do you want a fine, do you have a lot of money"

me: "No Mr Officer, I work in the motor industry"

cop: "Where do you work?"

me: "I work for Audi Mr Officer, so are you going to write out the fine please?"

cop: "No No, I was just warning you that you in the wrong . . . "

me: "Ok well if I am in the wrong, write the fine please . . . "

At this point he starts walking off back to his car and mumbles already irate by my conversation: "Its just a warning, you guys can go, I am not writing a fine"

Points to note:

1) He did not ask for my license
2) He did not check my license disc on the vehicle
3) He did not have his fine book with him

Doesn't sound like he was looking for anything, based on your story.

The attitude you displayed stinks - it doesn't hurt to be decent to other human beings even if they are traffic officers. You sound like a pompous and self-righteous SOB. Life will bring you down to earth one day. Being kind and decent doesn't cost a thing.

To me it sounds like the traffic cop was trying to be a d!ck. They are all d!cks in aycase. How's that for atitude ?

They are not ALL d!cks, to the contrary, a few rotten apples make the rest look bad. But I am sure you have all the stats to back up your theory. It looks like the police officer was just being kind and just warning the OP to mind the speed.

I was decent and courteous, don't let the tonality of the post portray something else.
All I did was kindly ask for the fine so that I could be on my way.

I beg to differ, the attitude and character displayed by the officer was clearly not someone there to warn me about speeding. If you feel something is not right then clearly it is not, and in this case the whole thing seemed off.

Normally the guys that pull me over always ask for my license, they check that the car is roadworthy in terms of registration, they have their book there ready to write out the offence, this guy displayed none of those traits.

Everyone sucks here. Nissan driver sucks for speeding. OP sucks for speeding and fixating on Nissan driver. Cop sucks for not doing his job and issuing tickets to two speeding vehicles.

Meh. I doubt he was looking for a bribe. Also, I suggest you be a little more polite to law enforcement. That attitude won't get you anywhere.

It got him from getting a fine!
And who are you to say what you think?
Were you even there?

Sounds like wide open bribe territory to me, especially the comment about money.

Also doesn't sound like there was a camera or laser or any speed measuring device in the mix so how would he know you were speeding and how would he fine you?

Sounds like the made up charges they stopped me for just outside Nelspruit once for apparently crossing over a double line which I know sure as fact I didn't do and amazing had no record of it except that it would be a "very big fine if I write this ticket".

Not all of them. There are decent ones out there. The key in my experience is to stay professional at all times.

A lot of times, one encounters officers who just want to do their jobs the best way they can.

I must agree. The decent ones you'll find driving through the Karoo.

Reaching a bit there.
