To 3D or not to 3D

I love 3D, I don't know whats wrong with some of the folks here... what's wrong with some extra depth?
Sure you don't use it every night on every movie, but it's nice to watch Prometheus/Hobbit/etc and other new 3D movies every now and again.

Why is active better than passive btw? I hate buying the batteries :erm:

Yeah, it's not.

Yes it is. Passive is interlaced. interlaced sucks. active gives better viewing angles. with passive you have to sit in just the right spot at just the right distance. passive is a lot more forgiving.

the only bad thing about active, is it does make the movie a bit darker than it should be. passive has a lot more negatives.

Yeah, it's not.

I think for gaming active might be worse than passive because of the flickering. The only thing you sacrifice on passive screens is half of the vertical resolution, which in any case helps your GPU from taking so much strain rendering images twice.

None of those factors matter if you're gaming. In any case you're going to sit a short distance from the screen and central to it. And the interlacing isn't very noticeable on a 23-27" screen. It's only when you're dealing with a 40-60" tv that you can start to notice the vertical lacing.

Correct on the small screen and sitting infront of it. But that is not the intention of the OP as I understand it. Also, this flickering you are talking about, I have never noticed it. You have to have superman eyes to notice it. The human I can not pick it up, as the FPS is too high.

Also, I've heard mixed reviews about Hisense. Is it good or not? I was looking at LG or Samsung, but friend told me about Hisense being quite good now and cheaper than the other 2 brands.

I hava a 55" Hisense. Bought it straight from Hisense in Midrand. Paid R8500 for the XT770 model.
Best buy I ever made. Wonderfull 3D active and got 4 pairs of glasses with.
Beautiful picture!!!

Thanks Marius :)

Ive had 40" + Samsungs, LG, and Sinotech.

The difference in picture quality, color, response time has been very clear. Samsung always comes up top
