Presently i have a 8800GT as per my sig but also have a spare 3850 lying around. Is it worth it to get another 3850 and play around with crossfire ?

p.s. stay away from the Maximus Formula, overpriced rubbish, i get better performance from a P5K and a DS3L and the bloody thing does not support 45nm quads despite it being a X38 chipset.

Maximus formula really is a difficult board to live with. Of late Asus motherboards have been sub standard overpriced, over marketed and most certainly over engineered (gimmicks and plenty of other rubbish) products... This especially holds true for the ROG line which has always been questionable but now is downright pathetic.
I can confirm that it does support 45nm Quads, but FSB is low and stability is shot.
As for crossfire, I say go for it. It's much easier to live with CF these days than it was before ;)
