To many Firewalls??

What is the general opinion regarding firewalls, and I am not an ADSL expert, so please I need to understand in words of one syllable.http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/images/smilies/smile.gif


XP has a firewall - how should I configure this.
My Marconi router has a firewall - how to configure the ports (using MSN RSS feeds, GMAIL ETC.)
My antivirus (AVG Ver 7.5) has a firewall.

So do I need all or some of these firewalls

Always use at least one. I take advantage of the routers NAT one but as I sometimes operate using bridged mode (as opposed to letting the router control the connection) I keep a software one running at the same time.

So between the XP one and AVG I wouldn't know which to recommend.
