To upgrade or not

I'm currently using a HTC Desire S and I'm up for an upgrade (have been since March) but there's nothing out there that really stands out...

I'm a cheap B@stard so I don't want to be spending R300pm on a money making scheme for MTN, which further limits my "options"....

I'm currently looking at waiting to see what the Sony Xperia ZR comes in at, though that's only in July or later, or I'm thinking of getting a "Use Your Own" and buying the P1 from Orange...

Thoughts?

Im thinking of getting it on my wifes upgrade (also MTN) but on 200 top up its R450 its a bit steep.
So might wait a month or 2

No longer.
Seems better to buy the phone and stick to pay-as-you-go @ R1.20 min than contract R2.30 min

How would the Galaxy Nexus sit with you? Cell C/Red Bull Mobile has it on the RBM200 (R249 p/m) contract:

It's not the latest or greatest phone but it runs super smooth and it's still an upgrade on the Desire S:

Aside from that, the contract itself is great value for money:

500MB data

It's tempting, but with all the nonsense about the quality of the CellC network, I'm unsure. I know MTN are a bunch of sharks, but I've had good quality connectivity from them...

You want the Xperia V.

On Anytime 100 with 150Megs of data, R100 airtime and 25 SMSs it's R249p/m.

For R30 extra you can get it on Anytime 200 which is even better with more data, airtime, 30 mtn-mtn minutes and 200 SMSs.

And the longer you take to make this leap, the longer you are effectively paying off a phone that you have already paid off and the more MTN is smiling.

Need my contract to run out first, but the prepaid route at significantly lower rates is looking to be the winner.
