To upgrade or not??

Good day Everyone.

I think my graphics card is dying on me. Last night flying flying in FS2004, all of a sudden my graphics become 'corrupt'. Basicly it looked like someone shredded my screen with a purple marker.

I beleivge that my Graphics Card (Nvidia GeForce FX 5700) fan is no longer spinning, and all attempts to revive it are fruitless.

So, Here is my problem. Do i buy a new AGP graphics card, or upgrade to a PCI Express PC Motherboard (and everything else that does with it).

I am not realy looking at price, I am also looking at future use. I am a fan of Flight SImulator 10, but my system cant handle it. How much better is PCI compared to AGP.

I also dont want to buy PCI if there is something better comming a month down the road.

Any recommendations on hardware retailers in JHB?

well it depends what cpu you are running are you running ddr 2

because upgrading could mean this:

new board new cpu new memory (its hard to find intel board with ddr400 now days)

plus a new vga card so basically you will need to replace your whole system

Not PCI! PCIe, as in PCI Express, and it will be around for a long time.

I have DDR400, so I will need new memeory. I have an Intel 2.8 something (duel core what-you-ma-call-it).

From the looks of it, I need:
* Case
* MB
* Processor
* Memory
* Graphics Card
* HD

The rest i will canibalise from my current PC.

Now, last question(s).

For gaming - Intel or AMD? And 32 or 64 bit?

no no no medic you wanna go with intel core 2 duo a good 965 motherboard overclock the cpu trust me better than any amd

intel lowest cpu can overclocked to beat amd best 6k cpu

i have the simmilar problem with my pc also use agp, and pray to god that it doesn't fails because if it does it means i have to upgrade everything again.

point is if u don't worry about the amount u r paying then id rather recommend and totally new upgrade, don't waste 1grand or more cuz when u gonna upgrade again that 1k cud have been used for somthing different and the cards resell value would have dropped immensly
