Any recommendations?
Something around R200 - R350.
And preferably a 4 slot toaster.

I cannot decide between a Mellerware or a Sunbeam.

If you aren't buying it for the way it looks, just get the cheapest one. We have a Russell Hobbs that cost R900, looks great but is a complete POS.
Bought a HAZ toaster from Clicks for less than R100, makes the toast in half the time and doesn't burn it.

Sometimes people take things a little too far. Its a toaster.

I had the opposite experience. First bought an el-cheapo 4 slice toaster and the lever died after a few months and had to hold it down to get the thing to work  Decided to spend a little extra on a Russel Hobbs and its way better. The thermostat actually works accurately and it toasts the bread a lot more evenly than the cheaper one.

We usually get the cheapest one that matches the rest of our kitchen appliances. We only have the current toaster (Boardmans brand) just over 6 years now.

Really, for a popup toaster brand is insignificant IMO.
I agree if you look at the mechanisms they are all the same .
After buying 4 toasters all crap i bought an industrial toaster that i have now had for 10 years and still going strong but it cost R3500

Geez, some of you guys take your toasters WAY too lightly!
This is a matter of life or death! Bread or Charcoal!

So thanks to my fellow MyBB users i just got any random toaster i could find.
A Mellerware to be exact.

And its ****. Uneven toast, dodgy popup mechanism that gets the toast stuck most the time.
I knew i should have done more research :(

There's a Safeway at Clicks that's really awesome, it's got a tray at the bottom that collects crumbs and had a few settings to choose from, goes for R200, 4 slice toaster. If I ever get a chance I think I will go buy it, love making toast 2am in the morning peanut butter with syrup and cheese spread with grated cheese..not to forget a good cup of coffee hmmmm delicious!! Think I'll go make now :D

I have that toaster. Its a nice toaster but it doesnt toast the bread the 1st time. U have to toast the bread twice to get it that nice golden brown toasty colour...

Test it in store. It should get hot very, very quickly and when it pops up, it should feel solid. That's pretty much the only advice you ever need when buying a toaster.

I'd hate to see you with a real estate agent...:p
