Tested the following configuration with iBurst (usual disclaimers apply about bricking your router):

Obtained a Netgear WNR3500L from Duxbury: http://www.duxbury.co.za/Netgear/da...nd_service_providers/wnr3500v2_ds_25sep09.pdf

Downloaded the special initial flash: http://www.myopenrouter.com/downloa...T-Firmware-Special-File-for-Initial-Flashing/
Downloaded the tomatousb firmware from http://sourceforge.net/projects/tom...6USB-1.28.9054MIPSR2-beta-vpn3.6.rar/download

Logged into: 192.168.1.1 with admin password and performed a router upgrade using dd-wrt.v24-13309_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-WNR3500L.chk

After the reload logged back into 192.168.1.1 using admin password

Renamed tomato-K26USB-1.28.9054MIPSR2-beta-vpn3.6.trx to .bin file and did a firmware upgrade (NB: Use reset to factory defaults or you will be forced to do a 30-30-30)

After the reload logged back into 192.168.1.1 using admin admin

Basics: Change WAN to PPPOE with iBurst credentials. Set MTU as 1392

Plus: Enable QoS and set sip.iburst.co.za as highest priority for crystal clear VoIP

There are a million things you can do on this router incl:
- Storage (add an 8GB USB flash)
- web server
- ftp
- media server
- print server

I have got one of those routers(bought it because you can flash it), I flashed the tomato firmware, but haven't done anything special yet. Just no time. But i want to see what I can do with the USB port

OpenVPN

By adding:

mssfix 1342
fragment 1342

to the advanced TAB on VPN Tunnelling both client and server works.

This can be combined with dyndns for remote access and also opendns for parental controls.

Is this router the "Linksys wrt54gl" of the 802.11n world ?

... If so, I might have to pickup 2 of them to upgrade my current Linksys network.
