So I have always been skeptical of braces and dentists that always want to take our wisdom teeth. I eventually had mine taken out a age 24, which was late for most people. I was never convinced of the argument that we do not need them.
So 2 nights ago I came across this video that explains that an attractive face, has to do with the Maxilla (the bone of which the upper jaw forms part of).
So it got me reading a bit deeper into the internet sensation of Mewing, basically Teenagers are fixing their tongue posture to try and get their Maxilla to move forward. This brings out your jeeks and jaw lines. I then took a look at some younger photos of me and clearly I had more visible cheeks when I was in school (we are all more beautiful when we are younger):
The other effect, aside from Beauty seems to be good respiratory function, good head-posture and that your teeth won't be closing their arch (which is the reason why the wisdom teeth eventually give a problem). Digging a bit deeper brings a lot of our modern facial issues back to the diet that we follow. Humans are no longer chewing off meat from bones and thus our Maxilla tends to move backwards.
Here is a 1 hour video for those who are interested.
