Too many whites, Asians work for Twitter

Could this be because those people are the ones with the correct skillset? I'm sorry but why the hell does your skin color have to do with what you are capable of achieving? It never stopped Nelson Mandela....

wtf is it with people and races. If the correct guy is white/black/green/purple who cares?

This is getting tiresome... everything is just about race...

Sexism is always overlooked, case and point in your comment not mentioning it.

You get women everywhere these days.. from cleaners to CEO/CIOs. But holy batman.. let there but few too "many" white male people and all hell breaks.

And the article was focused on white male (not sexism).

Race is a real issue in this country, more so than sexism.
But yes you can interchange colour and sex all you like, it should be the person most skilled to do the job that gets it.

The article specifically mentions women. But as I say, it's overlooked and you're somehow self justifying yourself for overlooking it.

It is a chicken and egg-situation. You want people "looking" right to encourage more people from designated groups (to use SA jargon) to join the company and to encourage them to attain the right skills.
Problem is, everyone is fighting over the few who qualify.
In SA, all companies are pushed to reflect the country demographics. They do not consider the demographics of school leavers who have adequate scores in mathematics. A black kid who gets a reasonable mark in proper mathematics can choose between the science fields and business, bat is probably also smart enough to be accepted for law. The pool just gets too small too soon.

I'm sure woman are descriminated against for many reasons (including reluctance to grant maternity leave, office dynamics etc.). It is the exact same thing as racial descrimination: There is nothing I can do about my skin color even if I wanted to. We should not have to be proud of our sex or race any more than we are proud of having blue eyes.

Your ability to perform the job required should be the only thing that counts.

So sad to see a company like Twitter actually taking note of someone's race.

O for a non-racial world.

When your entire leadership is made up almost entirely of white and asian men, then non-racialism and non-sexism hasn't been achieved. Then there is something wrong

Again the question lies in... What difference does it make if your skin is a different color or you are a different sex? They are the ones with the skills and drive to be where they are... We can't spoon feed the underachievers...

So you are trying to claim that black men and women are under achievers????
Because if not, the leadership should broadly reflect the demographics of the community

makes him feel less guilty about being a 'privileged' white male perhaps.

No... I'm just saying ALL people that are not in "Twitters" leader board are the ones that didn't Achieve that position. If we compare it to anything in South Africa we must take into account the corruption aspect first.

HAHAHA I got to where I am through hard work. I don't feel guilty after watching people sit and just say they "Deserve" anything..

I dont agree at all. There is clearly, if not an overt bais, then subconscious bias, that has led to that situation.
Because if it doesn't reflect a communities demographics, then the explanation is that the current leadership think that there are no capable black men or woman.

Fair enough point. So then those "capable black men or woman" must step forward and prove them wrong like everyone else has to do.

I'm not trying to say there are none with the skills. I'm saying there are more lying about having those skills then there are actually those with the skills.
