Tool to monitor usage to avoid capping?

I am looking for a tool which will allow me to monitor my usage similar to the one Vodacom have on their 3G service. I know I can look at http://users.isdsl.net (my ISP is Eject), but the login and password are unwieldy to remember and type in each time.

Any susggestions? At the moemnt I am on 2.7gb with a few more days to go until the end of the month!
 
The problem is that telkom doesnt go by what your machine says. Never-the-less bwMeter is pretty good.

Monitor or control usage? I use a freeware proggie called Down2Home for monitoring my actual usage and so far it has been very accurate (comparison made against WBS's bandwidth meter) and detailed, you can also have a always on top realtime monitor as one of your options.

To control the actual bandwidth I use Netlimiter, its TrytoBuy software, which you can buy or find a work around for that. Either way, it allows you to limit each bandwidth using process or application in increments from 1K - Full speed, separately. I use webcams a lot and they chew bandwidth, so I limit them. Dropped my bandwidth consumpion from 900MB per day down to 100MB.
 
Complication

I have installed both Down2Home and BWMeter. I think Down2Home is better suited to my needs. I do now have a problem though:

I access the 'net via a Netgear wireless modem router. I also have a desktop connected which I (sometimes) use as a file server, mostly as a print server. Am I right in saying that the software will report ALL my traffic, including prints and files I download to the server?

Any way to overcome it? I see BWMeter allows you to monitor either LAN or Internet traffic, but I find the graphs not quite as usefill as the counter on Down2Home.
 
Never used the Down2Home meter - is it any good?

You're correct, bwMeter allows you to access remote installations to measure traffic thereby giving you a more complete picture. I found the graphs annoying too - so I switched them off.
 
D2H does allow you to select different adapters to monitor. As far as I can figure (which is not very far) it monitors all adapters. If I switch between USB and Ethernet it still reports my total usage of the day, week, month, etc

I stopped using BwMeter because I did not require more than a basic, accurate BW monitor with a small always on top data flow window to see when my connection was 'fading'.

NetPeeker is the BEST! It has bandwidth metering, throttling, and you can view bw by application and limit as such.

It is 30 day trial though...
