What, in your opinion, is the TOP 10 most essential DS games to get? :)

I used to play that pokemon game on a emulator, im sure the DS version should be brilliant!
 
Advance Wars (All of them)
Super Mario Bros
Legend of Zelda
Some others that my brain wont let me remember right now

Not sure if its an advance or DS game but you should get KKK... Kuru Kuru Kururin.. has anyone played it!?!?! Awesome and addictive game... be warned however, I know people with gameboys with bite marks on them because of this game!!

lets see, I have quirky tastes so idk if my pick would be ur drug of choice. N.B this is not in order of preference

1. The World Ends With You (Brilliant use of the stylus + a Gantz/The ring spin to it makes this an instant winner)
2.Super Mario (one of the few kiddie type games i really enjoy)
3.CrossworDS (this i got for the missus but..it..got..me...)
4.Final Fantasy Tactics A2 (Great ORIGINAL SRPG --i stress on orginal cos Disgea DS is a remake, and i sorta like the psp version better)
5.Final Fantasy IV (the other remakes sucked IMO and crystal chronicals was made for the teletubbie generation...waiting for FFV and VI though)
6.Super contra (dude, ITS CONTRA!!!!)
7.Sonic Dark brotherhood (just started playing, looks promising despite my inexplicable despise of sonic and his crew)
8.Dragon quest -insert version here- (nice rpg)
9.Professor Layton and the curious village (really enjoyed the riddles and other elements of gameplay in this one)
10.Pokemon -insert version here- (not a personal fav but deserving of a space regardless)

there are others, these just spring to mind right now
 
OK here are my recommendations..in no particular order:

1. Pokemon D/P/Platinum
2. The World Ends With You <-You have to try this 1! It may very well be the best ds game ever!
3. Metroid Prime Hunters <- It's a FPS. Good graphics
4. Elite Beat Agents <- Kind of an old game but IMO super cool
5. Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
6. Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings
7. Final Fantasy Tactics A2
8. New Super Mario Bros
9. Trauma Centre: Under The Knife 2
10. Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword

These are my fav games, although bear in mind i've only tried about 1% of ds games.
and I know you said top 10 but i feel like sharing. Some other cool games are...

Ninentdogs <-I don't really like this 1 but it's cool to show off your ds with e.g. the bubble blower
Drawn To Life <- You draw your own character! btw i played the spongebob edition
Jam Sessions <- A virtual guitar. Rock on.
Metal Slug 7 <- Heavy Machinegun. Need I say more?
Soul Bubbles <- When you need to relax. It's very.... harmonious?
 
Braintrain is pretty entertaining, wont make you smarter though *sorry Skinner* but its definitely entertaining!
 
You should try Jump! Ultimate Stars, It's a 2d fighting game with a whole lotta characters from different anime series (Naruto, Dragonball etc).
It's only available in Japanes though so you'll have to download and apply an english patch.
 
Nice man, how old is your DS? Did you have to give proof of purchase etc? Because this DS I traded for my 8800gt is getting cracked hinges! Hope it doesn't break apart :(
