Yeah but from what I've read they're hardly using any of the PS3s power whereas games like Gears of War etc have been pushing the Xbox full tilt.

Well, GoW is a 2nd gen game on the X360 and it just show what the X360 can by simply scratching the surface with the initial UE3 build. Wait and see how Unreal Tournament 2007 will push the X360 even further and present us with something to behold.

While they're definitely getting more out of the 360 than the PS3 at the moment, they're by no means at the limit with Gears. Have a look at the Screenies and video's for Halo 3 due out later this year. By comparison it's apparently running in 1080p as opposed to Gears 720p, but it looks gorgeous.

I believe the principal culprit of PS3 games underperforming thus far is the rather complicated Sony SDK and the current lifecycle of the PS3 itself which isnt even a year old.

Within 1 or 2 years the developers should have harnessed Sony's SDK and could be releasing the games which will make the PS3 worth it. Sadly by that time the X360 will only be getting better since the MS SDK would have been improved to even impress us even more.

Overall this kind of close competition benefits us, gamers, the most.

True. XBox is better because it has had a year to get where it is. Sony is going to struggle to catch up in gaming. But given the strength of of the PlayStation brand to the general public, PS might still do ok.

It does? All the reports that I have seen since launch state the opposite, are you confusing it with another console when it launched last year
