This year is going to be the year of the touchscreen tablet, of that there can be no doubt.

While tablet PCs have been around for yonks, only now are they becoming the desirable, usable and functional devices that we've always wanted them to be – and it's about time too.

The iPad is currently the most obvious example of how tablets are going mainstream, but that's not to say that all tablets released from now on are guaranteed to be super awesome.

According to most pundits, the Kindle Fire tablet due for US release next month will be the game-changer, at US$ 199 barely half the price of the iPad. Will be an interesting battle!

Best to buy a tablet after the Kindle Fire Tablet release. Prices surely going to go south.

I don't foresee the iPad price going down, it may hurt the android tablet market though, I have an iPad, and even I'm interested to see the fire in action, although the small screen does put me off a it! It will be the closest thing to an iPad interns of amazon having a store for all the media!
 
i would not touch a android tablet with an os lesser than Android 3.x...
 
Geez, how long have they been touting iPad killers? :D

Nice to see some competition though what I'm failing to see with regards to Android based tablets is the availability of apps suited to tablets rather than both tablets and phones.
