In a clear dig aimed at its friendly rivals, the Air Force's official account posted Cruise's photo with a caption that mocks Maverick's Navy jet -- itself an upgrade over the F-14 Tomcat he pilots in the original film -- as inferior to its own F-15 Strike Eagle.

"If Maverick really had a need for speed, he could hop into one of our F-15E Strike Eagles! #DYK : They have a top speed of 1,875 miles per hour," it said, touting the Air Force's own 1980s-era jet that has long been hailed as the most successful dog-fighting aircraft in US history -- tallying more than 100 aerial combat victories, according to Boeing, the plane's primary contractor and developer.

Ahhhh no! It didn't have a good soundtrack to make up for the (missing)plot and bad acting. How it got 5/10 I don't know.
 
I dunno, Stealth had some perks that made it worth watching

Ummm, lets see, maybe from the script? Generally movies have specific run times, much like tv series but more flexible as they are not produced around advertising time slots. But movies also need to fit time slots in cinemas. Back in the day US cinemas ran movies on a continuous loop so it didn't matter how long a movie was. Today cinemas have fixed time slots. You generally don't pay more for a 3 hour movie than a 90min movie. But the cinema could, potentially, make double from a shorter movie.

Won't be able to fit the "blockbuster" bill at only 90m.
 
The CGI in this movie is getting less an less and less. 1) Tom Cruise taking of from a carrier, him sitting in the rear seat of an F-18 launching. 2) F-18 inverting when cresting the mountain in an actual training course they fly.

At the time, we were concerned that the air-to-air engagements would be largely rendered in CGI, but a recent Facebook post from Kevin LaRosa II, the Aerial Coordinator and Lead Camera Pilot for the film, has allayed much of that fear and offered details on the four different platforms, including drones, that he and his team used to capture the aerial magic we will see on screen.
