Top Private Schools

NO. Didn't even go that that school. In my days Bergsig was the top school here. Since they started the Academy they have left the top group. I've got friends with kids in this school - Just very impressed in how they run things.
From archery, hockey to rugby - They outperform. And like you've seen in the videos - That's not mickey mouse entertainment.
You can get that anywhere. I would need more to be impressed. To each their own, though.

How far are you from Stellenbosch? Bloemhof seems to be right up there!

Edit: and Rhenish https://www.rhenish.co.za/academic

Edit2: Rustenburg and Westerford seem top class too!
We've considered moving to Stellenbosch and sending them to Rhenish. It's brilliant. I have no interest in a school that is not dual-medium so Bloemhof isn't an option. Rustenburg first option - It was named #1 public school in the WC at the NSC awards. Still considering Herschel and Springfield. It's a very difficult decision...

You're lucky to have so many top notch cheaper options in your area.

Indeed, I think Pretoria and Paarl/Stelllenbosch probably have the best selection of public schools around. Most cities have maybe one, if they're lucky, top-quality public school and we've got a list to choose from. I'm really thankful for that. With the 3 kids, the difference between private and public schools is probably about R300k per year. And Affies even gives discount for second and third kids. ;)

My fok ne.
Personally I think they should change their name. It's pure malfeasance by them. I don't care that they're the no 1 school in the WC. Why can't they be Table Mountain Girls' High School or something like that?

No question about it. For boys with a potential future in rugby and cricket then schools like Paul Roos, Affies, PBS, Grey, Gim are amazing value.
Wanted to question the Affies addition to the list, but they are not doing as bad as I thought, actually pretty good. Only lost to the normal top 4. Just send your kids to Paarl then you can't go wrong. Their girl schools are actually also top notch. (all public schools)

Why is there a Rustenburg High in Cape Town and a Rustenburg High in Rustenburg? How are we supposed to know which one is which?
There are also a million Saint schools and Christian brothers. You have to concentrate hard.

The Cape Town Rustenburg's are girls schools and are Rustenburg girls junior and Senior respectively, they have also been around since before Rustenburg was a town.
Its named after the farm it was built on.

LOL

For the same reason Paris doesn't change its name.
Parys is named after Paris not the other way round.

Rustenburg the school is the under devils peak any way - Not table mountain. Its in Rosebank but was there before Rosebank existed as a suburb, also Tafeburg school and Rosebank school already exist anyway.

I went and had a quick look. Of the South African educated billionaires I could find (Elon Musk, Johann Rupert, Patrice Motsepe, Koos Bekker, Michiel Le Roux and Christo Wiese), not one of them attended a private school.

Looking at a few really successful people as an indicator for success for the rest might not be a good indicator. They also attended school a long time ago, SA and education in SA has changed significantly.
Does not mean you arent right, but looking at other items like university success, employment success even overall well being and maturity of the children finishing school would be factors as well.

Those are all great but none of them are dual medium BTW.

Thinking through this now, theres a gap in the market for a school directory website with each school's matric pass rate, bachelors pass rate, distinctions per learner and current ranking per sport.

Jonathan Beare (the very reclusive billionaire) & Stephen Saad (aspen pharma) are also both public schooled - Durban High School
