Hi there just bought my decoder for R499 at pep but now my question is this is suppose to have a voucher for installation. What does the voucher look like. i only got the decoder, manual and other connectors but no voucher. did they rip me off?

Thanks
Frank

They should have written you a number to call on your tillslip. There is a hotline number somewhere and a number for an installer to come out to your house and help you install the thing...

i am just worried they sold me only the decoder and now i have to buy the dish seperately

You do not have to pay for installation or dish, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Top TV subsidises the installation thus the installer claim back from them, at this roll-out stage, may change later.

But surely when buying the TopTV decoder one has to pay at least one month's subscription upfront and get a "smart card" or similar?

ODM announced the launch of their service on the lst of May 2010. TopTV decoders will be on sale at major retailers from this date at R499-00 fully installed!
In order to get the system installed you need to purchase the decoder from one of the selected retailers, then phone us on 086 123 3788 to schedule your installation from 01 May onwards. (Goods news is thay you may choose your preferred installer for the 1st month, as long as they are ODM accredited!)
TopTV´s set top boxes will be available through Pep, Game, Makro, Dion, selected Jumbo Cash & Carry stores, CCW, Brown&acutes and Weirs as well as House & Home. More stockists will be added post 1st May launch.
You DO NOT pay for installation apart from the R499-00 for the decoder at the retailer. Installations are scheduled from 01 May 2010 onwards!

*Installed system includes a Top TV decoder, smartcard, remote control, 80cm steel satellite dish, LNB, wall bracket, cable and user manual.
*Coastal installation should consider upgrading to the 100cm Alunimium or 100cm Fibre Dish kit - Add R400.00 or R700.00 to the standard installation price for this upgrade.

Smart card comes with the decoder. I take it then only the subscription will have to be paid.

Nope, phoned several times and also left number for call-back since 8 this morning, but no contact yet. And if you phone now, after two "all our consultants are on the phone" repeats you get dumped unceremoniously in the voicemail system. Maybe they should get off the phones and start answering them. :)

Thanks for the OP for starting this thread and for the members that answered the questions. Just bought my decoder at Pep I'langa Mall in Nelspruit. Game and Dion Wired were clueless when I asked for the product. The staff at Pep were way more professional and helpfull. I gave their manager ODM and TopTV's number to give to customers as she asked for it. I also didn't get through to them, but I'll be patient. Ciao, tera

I did try calling this morning at 7, but got the same message, fortunately i live close to the office and went there personally, and requested that sumone call me back, which i did receive a call after half an hour, which was all good, and managed to get service. I gave all the information to them, thereafter i was required to get an installer, which i did say i will call them myself, but the unfortunate part is that it is a public holiday today, or most of them dont work on weekends, so managed to conquer the first battle, now trying to get the second won....lets hope it happens soon, as i could see in the building that they were extremely busy, maybe they need a few more call centre staff........or they may quieten down a bit later on....

Finally got through at around 2pm, installer phoned me around an hour later to tell me he could have installed but ran out of LNB's, so can install monday morning.

When i got through they had recieved over 4000 calls.

Shot to all who replied to my question.

Hey,the demand is huge!!! I went to pep in Heathway centre(which is pretty hidden away) close to cresta mall.I went at 9am and there were loads of people buying decoders.I eventually got through to the call centre at 19:40.So im organised. Its about time nochoice got some competition.I will support them them 100%!! Im a rocker and asked nochoice years ago for mtv2 or kerrang!,so f@ck them.Ttv can defnitley compete.Nochoice has made profit margins unheard of any country, trust me I know.I have seen their accounts.

I went to makro Centurion, the sales dude said they got decoders but no installation voucher. I asked him if he cant sell me the decoder and give me a contact number for installation, he said they were gonna get their installation vouchers on wednesday/thursday and cant sell anything cos they need a barcode for the installation voucher.
Went to Game (centurion), they wrote the barcode on a slip, i paid for it, then collected the decoder and the sales guy gave me the number to call for installation. DONE. The cashier lady make a comment in Sotho that I couldnt understand but I heard TopTV. I thought its probably the first item she's selling...
Got to the security guard at the door, he asked me jokingly what is ttv, i ignored his question and asked him how many of em did they sell, he said hundreds and joked about selling maybe thousands.

saw in the sunday times that they operate 7 days a week, so I tried calling few times but no human interaction. Called again after 7 and the message I heard was that they extending hours in this busy period to 6PM...

Will call again in the morning...

I call for a TopTV sticky, with little sticky's for 1). installation, 2). decoders, 3). EPG and channel reated

There are NO installation vouchers and propably never will be! Please do not falll for that one or pay anything more than the R499-00 (which includes a dish kit and installation)!

How about declaring 05 June national satellite braai day? Come on guys, we've made so many friends all over SA and especially in CT, you guys make us feel special!

I'll get a venue and discuss with our other branches to invite all our customers to a bring & braai on the day. Other installers and customers welcome to join us on the day.... All in favour e-mail me on [email protected] and I'll arrange it... We'll do a price draw and get the suppliers involved if there's enough interest! Let me know how you feel
