So how does it work?

If mine gets activated tomorrow when do I pay? Pro rata? I am not paying for the full month if I only get two weeks of watching...

Do you pay in advance (for the month's viewing) or in arrears?
 
I think its in advance, except for this month..
We will be charged pro rata in arrears for this month and in advance for next month at the end of the month, there after in advance...
 
Basically you have 48 hours from activation to pay for this month. It is a pro-rata rate though so don't worry.
I've been up and running for over a week now and still haven't paid as I have no idea how much I'm meant to. (Still waiting on the SMS and I refuse to waste more money trying to call them).
Still haven't been cut yet they're obviously aware that many people have no idea what to pay yet.
 
You won't be cut off but once you receive next months invoice, you'll probably be charged with interest -- I heard they busy testing their billng system - To make sure it can manage...

You've to pay once you receive the SMs within 48 hours of receiving the sms.

I had to pay R86.13.. I also refuse to phone them. I will probably call them on Friday or during the weekend.

I think I spent like R100 on phone calls to toptv easy
 
Well I paid them R250 so then next month I will only pay the balance got an sms with only da bank details and account number..........

Well. I will pay them when I get it... or at the end of the month.
 
WTF ? I have paid R219 last week when i got activated, the lady told me to pay the money within 24hrs or else i will get dc and now they are sending me the bl**dy sms at 2:30am > Dear Mazelove, please use this number when contacting us or making your payments to TopTV: 00000****. Your first payment of R183.96 is due within 24hou. they musn't tell me stories now yoh i get angry easily lol...let me see what happens after 24hrs...

Good morning Top TV monthly payment thread

Please note our payments are paid in advance, therefore your monthly subscription needs to be paid by the 1st of every month.

Pro rata is paid from the day of activation to the end of the month. Therefore you are only billed for the time you’ve viewed. E.g. If you activated on the 15th of May and selected the R249.00 package, your prorated amount due within 24 hours will be R128.52

2 SMS’s are sent to customers that activate:
1. A welcome SMS
2. A second SMS is sent informing you of your pro-rated amount and includes your account number

I found they don't send the sms's as promised and I called them for all this info, amount owed, bank details, acc #, etc. But I'm very patient and understanding, so I didn't mind. Just glad I'm watching for a few days already.
 
Got the sms with the amount I had to pay 3 this morning........had to pay 179 and I got acitvated on Monday only.....does dat sound right?
 
Oh cool. Top TV was installed yesterday but not yet activated. Will try to get through to them today.

Sounds like they ripped you off out of R2. 22 days should be about R176.71

Thank you for the responses,

Pro rata: Once the installation has been done, the installer will send an SMS to the call centre to activate. After activation, an sms will be sent to you, with the amount that you will need to pay for the services to view for the rest of the month. If you are paying cash or Electronic Payment, please insure that you use your account number as reference.

Please note that there is no duplication of payment if you had already paid for your services, whether via cash payment or debit order.

I'm sorry, but you're a bit to adamant here with the "an sms will be sent to you". You've said that twice, but after calling in 3 times after being activated I still didn't get any sms. I eventually called in again and asked how much I owed so that I could pay and ensure that I wouldn't get cut off at all. Perhaps you should change to saying "an sms *should* be sent to you" and perhaps give information on what to do if you don't get an sms? Is it a matter of not having to pay if you don't get the "please pay X" sms? I know you guys are working like mad to sort out problems, but you haven't acknowledged this issue yet or what customers should do about it.

This will definitely cut back on spelling mistakes and duplication of subscriber requests, which means less load on the call center and less frustration for the would-be subscribers, first impressions and all that.

Also, this will at least give some indication that there are people on the other end who are hard at work.

At the moment we do not have any idea what is going on over there. For all we know the call center agents are playing solitaire all day to give the callers the opportunity to become best friends with the guy who apologises every now and again for the fact that the call is not being answered.

Hehe - yeah, if you check out RichardG's posts he seems to be quite up to date on the happenings at TopTV, also this blog seems to be quick on announcing changes at the TopTV call centre http://teeveetee.blogspot.com/ - he has some negative posts recently which is a bit sad, but it seems like the Call Centre is being expanded greatly. Would be awesome if TopTV_Wizard could organise some kind of online support or even just a status update as to how things are progressing. (Although I imagine the potential for leaking sensitive info to their competitors could be a concern)
