Hi Everyone

I am currently with Top TV but their programming is really bad so want to change to DSTV, my question is will I be able to use the current dish I am using for Top TV and will I require new cabling? Is it hard to change the direction and set it up by myself? the current cable that runs from the dish is the standard TV cable.

I only require one TV to be connected, what type of decoder will I need?

I plan on only getting the compact package if it helps.

Sorry for all the nOOb questions struggling to find all the info I need.

All answers appreciated.

Use the same dish. Its easy to change the direction, just look at your neighbours or anyone who has DSTV around you. Apparently there are notches on the dish/elbow thingamabob. See on which notch theirs is and put yours the same direction. I read that somewhere, so don't quote me on that.

You can use an 1131 or 1132 decoder. All cabling will stay the same.

Perfect, thank you very much!

Is it that simple to align a dish? Just look at others and adjust the thingamabob... I must have been doing it wrong for the past 10 years.

You on the full package? Try that first. Still cheaper than DSTV.

I do have the full package but just feel like it is not getting any better their movies are boring and bland, used to enjoy a couple of their series but the good ones ended and they replaced it with that destiny river crap so its really is not getting better.

I was really optimistic when it started but it's just not worth the money anymore.

If you're not into sport you'll come to the same conclusion about DSTV after a year or two.

Not heavy into sport but I enjoy watching football.

DSTV at least get new shows, Top TV are showing the same shows I watched when I first got Top tv a year ago.

I actually moved from TopTV to DSTV Compact a week ago. I miss the Fox channels as well as the dedicated music channels but I'm thoroughly enjoying Compact. There's a good balance of old shows as well as new shows. I'm not really a sport guy myself, but Supersport 3 provides me with the soccer and I can still see Impact Wrestling on Supersport 4. MNET Series also runs brand new shows, some even exclusive to the channel. Same with Universal. So thus far, I think DSTV Compact was a bit of an upgrade.

I couldn't agree more. Too many rubbish shows & repeat episodes on our pay TV. If you don't watch sport (like me) then there's really no reason to get DSTV & rather get a decent adsl (at the same price) & download whatever you want to watch.
