Greetings

I'm trying to top-up my data card (prepaid) by sending the PIN number via an SMS to 100. Sadly, for about the last 6 months this is not working anymore :(

When I look at the itemised billing status on v4me, the SMS to 100 has been registered.

For now, I have to practically disassemble the notebook to remove the SIM card from underneath the battery, put it into a cellphone, do the necessary, re-install the SIM into the notebook, etc,. The modem on the notebook is ICASA licensed.

Capitec does not yet offer the option to buy data bundles. Its a schlep to take time off to visit a Vodacom outlet during office hours to purchase a data bundle.

Any suggestions?

Buy a data bundle with Internet Banking? Just noticed you're with Capitec so ignore this!

Use MDMA to send USSD commands to buy a data bundle starting with *111# and follow the prompts.

Also the latest version of Vodafone Mobile Connect has pre-pay options built-in now...

You have to dial 100 and follow the prompts or you have to dial *100*recharge pin#

Otherwise you can also use ATMS to purchase airtime. It then gets loaded onto the cell number you enter on the ATM.

I should have reported that I am using the Dell Mobile Broadband Manager that is shipped with the notebook, no Vodafone Mobile Connect. I will have a look at MDMA.

I have tried MDMA, and also gave a report back on the MDMA thread. It does not support my modem: Dell Wireless 5540 HSPA Mini-Card Modem.

Time to strip the notebook to retrieve the SIM card...

get a spare sim, load airtime on that using your phone, transfer to your data sim ... ?

A report back:

The first recharge message I sent was at 9 Feb 18h13. After going through the exercise of removing the sim card, etc., I got a message the next morning 10 Feb 11:21 "Sorry the recharge PIN code you have entered has already been used." By then I was already at my holiday destination for the weekend.

So the system is working..... but a delay of 17 hours o.O

Vodacom must really work on improving the responsiveness of their system.

I normally used my cellphone banking from my phone to directly buy data for my data sim.
You can enter the number of the cells/sim you want to buy data for.
