TopTV Decoder Sync

So here's the thing. Monday, I assemble my TopTV dish and point it in the right direction. Eventually get it all fine. So I bolt everything in place. Unscrew LNB F from back of decoder and switch decoder off at end of evening (as in unplugged off).

Tuesday, reconnect, nothing. Out of tune. WTF? So yesterday I point etc again and signal is back. Today, after recycling power just to move to a different power point, its gone again. Does TopTV decoder take forever to find dish or what?
 
Mine works 101% :-) But then again,I know what I am doing. Make sure you point the dish correctly! What equipment did you use to point it? It sound like you got a fringe signal only. If nothing works get some professional help. It not only saves time but also frustration. Keep in mind, even if you get some signal in nice weather, it won't work when is windy!

Mmm - I appreciate what you are saying - but why would it drop by just recycling power?

I am starting to suspect this. However, I will give a little more credence to Hoeka's suggestions. Using one closed eye, my thumb and an approximation of 15deg off north is probably not too scientific so it is Dish Pointer s/w time this afternoon.
 
OK, my thumb-sucking pointing abilities obviously suck. Plugged it into a known good signal and instant sync. Of course, I am prepared to consider that maybe the LNB is not so lekker - does DSTV and TopTV use same LNB? Or rather, if I test the LNB across the two setups (ie, switch DSTV with TopTV) will the LNB work for the other or not? This will at least help me eliminate that as a problem.

Yes, I did toptv on DSTV lnb in the beginning. You need to rotate the lnb to toptv's instructions.
