Apologies if this is out there & I am slow:)

Glossy insert in our local rag suggests:
Between 15 Sept and 15 Oct - R299.00 once-off includes dish, decoder & installation (was R499.00)

Suggests available at all the usual places - Game, makro, PnP, Hirsch's, House&Garden, Hifi Corp, PEP, DionWired, OK Furniture

PS: Package prices look standard
 
Launch price was R499 which was supposedly R200 off the standard price. R299 is bloody cheap.
 
Still waiting for dish installation from first day of TopTV launch.

They are not exactly in a rush to get subscribers, are they ?

I might just throw the decoder (still in the box) in the rubbish bin !

Or maybe I can take it apart and use some of the parts ? Hmm ....

Ouch, do you live under a bridge somewhere in the bundus? Damn it took me an hour and a half from buying the decoder to watching on my couch.

DSTV will counter with R698

Lol. In the begining they where hectic and unprepared for the rush. But I know a few people that have bought decoders over the last month or so and the longest someone waited for installation was 24hrs. The other two where installed on the same day.

Maybe its time to phone another installer? or are you waiting for themto get back to you from that original message system of theirs?

Well, I don't know, for starters I can use that 12v 1.5A power brick for my router (PSU died), and the batteries for the remote, etc, etc.

Yes, I am waiting for them to get back to me :D

I was without DSTV when I applied for TopTV, in the meantime I have DSTV again, so no rush !

Edit : HAMMOCK ? What a good idea, it's summer in Joburg !

Edit : R299 ? Maybe I should get a few more, nice power supplies !

They are so darn useless irp programmes and admin, that I expect them to go out of business shortly.

Funny but seriously, the R299 is an absolute steal.

I got connected when people were still clamoring for TopTV STBs. Wasn't easy but I got it done. Which is why it is so shocking to hear that you still haven't been connected yet.

I have absolutely not regrets. I guess that is because I'm on the R99/month bouquet. If I were on R249 I would have cancelled it or at least down graded a couple of times.

For R299, I would have bought a second STB if I didn't have DStv on my other TV.

TopTV really aint that bad. They need time that's all. Let us see what they are going to do in October with their promises of new 14 channels.
 
to anyone wanting to get toptv don't. i have just cancelled my subscription. their service is crap and TOPTV programming is crap. i had the 249 package. they repeat everything after 2 months... i had it since June.
 
I have top tv from July and i am quite happy with them.
Now i can buy a new one.
I need to move my existing dish from side of the wall to the ceiling because of the complex rules.
I phoned some of the installers and they said they can only do it for R350.
So now i buy new one for R299 and and i will have a extra decoder and remote if incase they break.
 
I'm quite happy with TopTV. Had it since 1 May 2010. Was on the R99 package for 1 month before adding Knowledge & Entertainment. Not interested in the movie package just yet. If repeats are bothering you, then you are watching way to much TV.
 
I think this special is slightly desperate. I really hope they survive, because they can really make a difference in a few years time.
 
Guys so far so good I guess dont watch much tv only complaint is the way they installed my Dish the wind keep blowing it out of range or something.....I need the number of the installers again they told me to call them but now I lost their number........eish.....
