Torch not staying on 3G

So when I switch my Torch on after say a battery pull, it will go to 3G and all is well.

As soon as I go out of 3G signal it switches to EDGE and does not go back to 3G again.

What can be the problem? I'm on MTN.

Being on EDGE does help battery life, though.

Restart ur torch, press alt, shift, delete all together, another option is to go to connections, turn it off and wait a minute and then turn connections on again.

What I do on my 9700 is go to connections and scan for available networks and select my sp's 3G network.

On the wife's 9300 there's 3 options under network mode: 2G, 3G, 2G&3G. Selecting 3G only ensures you have 3G 99.9% of the time. Wish I had that option.
