Torchlight II

Awesome! It supports LAN play? Gee, I thought no one used that anymore. Amazing its now a selling point.

I'll probably buy this because I loved the first game. In fact (and I could be forced to eat my words but we'll see) if Blizzard continues treating its customers like it does, Diablo III may get the boot for this.

I'm a huge fan of the first - and I still play it with much joy ;)

I'm looking forward to this! I just hope it's as much of a gem as the first one was.

and I'm VERY excited about the modding tools this time around, and the multiplayer of course ;)

Torchlight sucked balls, what are you guys talking about?

Hopefully this time they do a better job.

i would have to ask if you have sucked balls before to be able to make an accurate comparison there ;)

I kept torchlight far away from my balls.

It was fun for awhile but then I stopped playing.

I played about 20 hours of Torchlight and then gave up. Blizzard's going to have to do something special to the core gameplay of Diablo3, because this isometric clickfest style seems reeeaalllly dated these days.

I love isometric clickfests. Diablo 3 is going to be awesome. I can't wait. Torchlight was just made for kids though, that's why it sucked.

The more demonic, the better as far as I am concerned. :p

Now that's a strange statement coming from an athiest. Surely you hold the idea of demons and the devil in the same light as you do God and angels?

Well thats the point - its a game based on fantasy fiction.

Fantasy fiction.

Oh my. I was wondering if someone was going to come up with something like this. :p

I was not disappointed.

What has the fact that I am an atheist got to do with my enjoyment of a fantasy game, the purpose of which is to ultimately murder hordes of demons?

The game is not called Diablo without reason, you know.

This sort of question does annoy me a tiny bit though, since it illustrates the wealth of misunderstanding about what being an atheist entails.

To recap - The more demonic, the better, since that is the whole purpose of the game. It's got sweet ****all to do with any philosophical outlook I might have.

I am just curious, don't get your knickers in a knot.
My feeling is that you wouldn't even think of playing a fantasy game if it had a positive religious spin to it, yet you are drawn to the negative..
I'm not trying to catch you out or tell you you're a bad person, relax. I just find it curious is all...

I have a freind who you might call an orthodox atheist :p. He wont have anything to do with magic, fantasy or any of that kind of thing. He won't even play nethack because you have to choose a deity. He was even a bit put off by borderlands because of the angel until l suggested it might be some kind of AI.

I was just wondering how you fit it together.

/unknots knickers :p

This is just the thing though, I could not care less whether a game has a positive/negative/neutral outlook on matters religious. It's a fantasy, a made up game. It would be absurd of me to lend such importance to matters that I obviously don't take seriously in real life. This is the thing that I find frustrating sometimes - That religious folk draw a sort of parallel between the role of their religion in their lives and the role of atheism in an atheists life.

The only reason I commented on Diablo 3, was that the Diablo franchise have been some of the best action role-playing games ever made, which happens to be the genre of game I most enjoy. The demonic aspect should be emphasized, since that is the storyline that drives the whole game.

That sounds pretty odd. I've never, in my life, encountered a self professed atheist with that sort of attitude. Most of them that I know are quite happy to delve into matters mystical and fantastical, since they are well aware that it is simply entertainment, nothing more.
