I believe it is my duty as a consumer to report poor service and quality. After paying Torga Optical for a pair of spectacle lens for my son, we received the glasses with rattling lens and thick corners making it uncomfortable and ugly for my son. I asked that the original be put back in. I took the prescription and frame to another optometrist. I was impressed. They measured the original lens and quoted for an exact replacement which was cheaper. We paid absolutely nothing until we had the new lens installed and were happy. The service and quality between the two was like chalk and cheese. I then sought to get my refund from Torga Optical and was offered an R800 voucher for apparently the incovenience experienced when the first visit to the factory was awful as the quality of the lens was deemed poor by the person in charge and needed to be fixed. Torga Optical blamed our frame for the rattle and my son's prescription for the ugly thickness. However, their competition did the job in 5 minutes, the first time and perfectly. I offered to show Torga the finished product but the CEO of Torga Optical gave me a lifetime ban on visiting their stores and threatened with action etc. Its like David and Goliath. Me, if I was the CEO, I would look at this as an opportunity to fix the problem between the customer, the store and the factory. Threatening customers is bad business practice.
