 Hi guys

I run a decent firewall and have done a little searching here and there.

I have a brief question regarding security and torrne t use.

My Torrent client allows me to select the ports it uses. These i change to random ports every so often. Then I forward those ports on my modem and open the ports in my firewall while i am actually using the client to do a dowload. I only open the ports on the firewall when i download something.

I have noticed that if I dont use my torrent client then the firewall registers very few incoming actions that it has blocked.

However after using the torrent client and aftewards when i close the ports in the firewall as I am no longer downloading, then stacks of blocks will be performed by the firewall for the next 10 minutes or so. I assume that it is poeple(unfriedly) who have been able to see my Ip adress using their Torrent client. How have they been able to see which port I have opened? What can they do while the torrent client is open and the ports are not protected by the firewall? Should i be concered by this or am i being paranoid?

I only open 5 ports at a time and never the normal or commonly used ones. So i doubt that a quick guess would give someone the ports. The Torrent client is ABC.

Your help is appreciated.

No you are paranoid! Its the other clients that were connected to you that are still trying to send you data or requests for you to send data. Ignore it.
