I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this, or if it's just me. I use torrents very often and always at the beginning of the month once I'm uncapped, the torrents go extremely slow, I get a total download rate of maybe 2kbps. And 1kbps upload if I'm lucky

But when I'm capped I get much higher speeds, well in the region of about 6kbps total down and about the same up. But sometimes even higher.

Anyone else had this problem? Any ideas what I can do about it?

I used the G3 3gig before and i used Nuke Cap to get good speeds and i am on the G9 9 gig option now and i get good speeds like 30KB/s up to 90KB/s on torrents (download) and i am connected on a new tower with very good signal. I also done a speed test on Iburst's website and it showed 1mbit/s.

G9 works great for p2p

Well I'd love G9, but a bit expensive for me..

I never knew you could you Nuke Cap with Iburst, thought it was specifically for ADSL?

Thanks :) Looks like it could be pretty helpful.

Which package did you use from Nuke Cap? The PayVPN one?

I used Nuke Cap and sometimes Openweb and it helps alot on the G3 account. They ask about R60 a month and I sometimes still use Nuke Cap on G9 account when i am capped and it helps a bit.

Nuke Cap www.nukecap.co.za
Openweb www.openweb.co.za

Am I missing something? How does that work? I also thought you could only use Nukecap and Openweb with ADSL...

Or are they just proxy server settings? When you are capped, though, how do you overcome the throttle? Surely everything still goes through the Iburst network.

Nuke Cap and Openweb is proxy servers and sometimes when i am capped it helps a bit to speed up my connection a bit but not much and it defnitly helps on the G1, G3, and G6 when uncapped and capped a bit.

I used 51gig once on Iburst on the 3gig option.

Ok I just signed up for a month on the Nuke Cap PayVPN service, something like R60.00 a month, and right now my torrents went from about 1kb down, to 50kb down! Granted I am still uncapped but wow it does seem to make a big difference.

If anyone wants to get better torrent speeds I suggest trying it. It really isn't a lot of money just to try it out.

Thanks, that makes sense now!

Since I'm on the G9 I wouldn't get any benefit until capped. But very useful info for others.

you can alkso use the free proxy service from Openweb. I use it for p2p and get around 70-80kb on limewire. Just that your app needs to be able to work with a proxie, but most do.

Ive also noticed this though, my DC++ basically doesnt run hile im still at 1mb speeds and after being capped it works arounf 6-10kb. Same with torrents I see?

I've had a look at Openweb quickly but didn't see anything about a free proxy service.

On another note about 20 mins ago all my traffic suddenly slowed down completely. I checked and as I thought I'd reached my cap, didn't realise they can cap you without you disconnecting.

So I disconnect, and reconnect to Pay VPN service from Nukecap and speeds are just as fast as before.. :) Still happy.

Azgard, yeah that happens to me with torrents... (i'm also on 3gb package)
it's faster once i'm capped! i can't find anything on openweb.co.za either. where to sign up?

Lol, glad to know I'm not alone.

Does feel weird to be capped 24 hours after being uncapped.

But my speeds are actually so much better now that I'm capped. Earlier on today when I was still uncapped I couldn't browse site or check mail while I had my torrents downloading. Now the torrents are going really fast and websites loading fine too..

For openweb I have no idea. Nukecap is good though :) If it stays like this it's really worth the R60 a month.

What kind of speeds do you get from p2p when iBurst is capped with one of these accounts for R60?

What's the technicalities of the PayVPN account, is it a ISP on its own?

Infrom I please.:D

Oh sorry, Openweb recently killed those Free pxie and socks accounts that you have to sign up for, now they are totally free and anyone can just use them..

the adress is free.blazetalk.com port 443 (proxy) or port 20 (socks v5)

Username: openweb
Password: free

so you can put that into pretty much any app (all browsers, limewire, DC++, kazaa etc..) and it becomes unshaped. Only for use before being capped.

huh? you saying the PayVPN removes the capping? You shure thats not just the normal burst of full speed alot of people get when capped? It usually gives fast speeds and return to being capped after a few seconds or a minute or two.

Uncapped Iburst for R60? Sounds intreesting, im geussing that Im missing something or you are wrong?

My torrents have been a lot better actually while im uncapped, on a 1gig account and when uncapped i get up to 70KB/s but when im capped, its at about 0-10kB/s :D & this R60 for uncapped also interests me...

S1ght - 70kb/s on a 1G account! you need to show me how you get this right. I just checked now on emule, and I get a stupid 3kb/s!

i got screen shots if you want, but i didn't do anything special, I use uTorrent & 1 day it started...

Trixanno, i PMed you, but if you want your torrents (i dont use torretns so im not that shure) and definatley your Emule or any p2p to go at that speed the Openweb free proxy will do the trick, works perfectly.
