Is 3G IP based?

I read this article about Torrents being tracked. http://mybroadband.co.za/news/security/59173-using-torrents-you-are-being-watched.html

Now my question is, is 3g internet Traceable? And how?

What do one do to stop anyone tracking me?

I also read that some service providers forward e-mails to people when they have been caught downloading torrents.
Will a company like vodacom, Mtn, Cell c or 8ta do the same when using 3g network?

3G is indeed IP based.

I occasionally scan the local subnet I'm on out of curiosity to see how populated things are (And to see which users have open shares ;D)

For security, NewsHost uses private trackers which is preferable over sites such as TPB (If you can get an account, that is ;D). Otherwise, try search for releveant UseNET groups to see what pops up :D

Will do thanx

They all do it ... , every single one, and back-ups are stored for I don't remember how many years - privacy on the Internet is a myth ... , and security also. You want to keep data secure, don't put it on computer, and don't connect the computer to a network.
