p2p is throttled full on, try set up RC4 encryption, might help.

I don't understand why people even bother using iBurst for torrents and downloading/gaming. It should only be used by someone wanting to browse/email and have the seldom Skype chat i.e my grandmother.
Yes, ADSL is currently costing me double of what I used to pay iBurst - but iBurst can't touch my 15ms pings and can't offer an uncapped package for obvious reasons.
So stop complaining about not being able to P2P on iBurst and move over to ADSL.

I've been able to download to torrents from day one... It actually got quicker over the past year, i can average about 15kB/s on a throttled account after using up my 1 gig.
(112 kB/s when i still have cap). Haven't been using it since the beginning of November, but I'll check it out soon

FYI, iBurst have totally blocked torrents since 2005 at least, earlier than that I cannot comment.
As for what Shaun Green is going to do about itahem, Shaun, you guys didn't do anything, not even a jot after an open letter I wrote you guys, so I voted with my feet and got Telkom ADSL, and am happily blowing my cap on torrents.

Erm... i have been downloading torrents on iburst for the past 4 years with out any hassels, last torrent i downloaded was a month ago and if i recall correctly i was getting decent download speeds.
Shaun i understand why iburst is shaping p2p downloads but if they have indeed all of a sudden blocked it completely then i have no more use to stay on iburst, i have already given up wow about 2 months ago because of Iburst and now iam paying for a 10 gig account that i cant do **** on because i cant play online games and now i cant download any torrents, i mean iam the one paying you guys for a service and your basicly telling me what i can and cant do with it. If thats the case then you guys should rather reduce the R1060 pm fee to R500 and tell everybody it can only be used for email and internet surfing and nothing else.

I'm never going back from DSL.
Anyhoo, get one of em online utorrent accounts, and ftp to the server to get your stuff. FTP will be shaped but prob not as bad as torrents.
Or, if you know how, tunnel the connection through another server to the ftp site so you're downloading on an encrypted line and hopefuly wont be noticed by the shaping.

In that case, probably not. Otherwise, most probably
it will, and im referring to a machine outside of SA, or at least off iburst's network. And its SSH, not SSL

Anybody here that can recommend a isp that i can use for gaming and torrent downloads. Iam going to go the ADSL route 4meg connection. Cba with iburst anymore, its more of a frustartion to have iburst then it is to deal with Hellkom and i say that grinding my teeth as i hate telskum and would have rather stayed with iburst. But when your paying a isp R1060 pm and your isp dictate's to you want you can and cant do with the service that your paying for is just crazy. Basicaly iburst can only be used for internet surfing, email and the occasional none torrent downloads.

I started out with iburst with the ablity to game and torrent downloads and for the past4 years i have had very little to complain about and now in the space of 5months i have lost the ablity to play online games and torrent downloads, so i ask what am i paying for now? a reduced service that iam paying for every month that price has not been reduced.

I have a 4mbps ADSL line and use AXXESS as my ISP. Even though I don't get the full 4mbps, because I live far from the exchange, I still get good pings for gaming - around 15 - 20ms which is perfect for local online play. Axxess offer 2 uncapped packages. The only downfall is that from 8am-8pm you are throttled to 384 - which isn't a problem cos I can still Skype and play online during the day, but cannot do ANYTHING else. At 8pm you have FULL speeds til 8am - wether it being torrents, rapidshare etc... It's such a pleasure not worrying about your 'cap' and/or purchasing more... There's been months where I download over 150GB - other months only 20GB. Definitely something to consider if you willing to pay ±R1300 for line rental and ISP...

Isn't that with a 384 line?Or is that just the amount you pay to axxess?

Thx for the prices, i have applied for my Hellkom line so should be installed with in the next few years lol
And i will give Axxes ago a extra R200 a month and i can get 3 times the speed better latency and not be told oh you cant do this and oh btw you cant do that but we gonna charge you anyway
