Torrents

Let me put it this way, Peer to Peer like Limewire is like stealing a little bit at a time, where torrents are like being part of the mafia.

There are legal software available as torrents thouh, Openoffice springs to mind

I would say it is safer than limewire, cause when you create the torrent file, you point it to the file/folder you want to share. Yes, you can point it to an infected file/folder, but afaik, a virus cannot attach itself to a torrent file... That's what I think.

Well the "safety" (for me) comes from having comments on a torrent site. Other people will usually check the files with AV scanners and it should be picked up by someone as a virus soon enough. Limewire type P2P is just off some person's PC with a filename to guide you.

torrents are pretty much the way you download stuff from the internet now days....long time ago you used to just downlaod them straight from the internet in small little files.

you download torrents from a torrent website and it loads up in ur bittorrent program, then you leave it until it finishes what you wanted to download,,, then when ur ratio is 1.000 then you can take it off or leave it there to help seed. You have seeds/peers/leeches

seeds are people who have the full files for that torrent, and are helping to give it to others..peers are people who have connected to the seeds who are downloading and seeding the same time. leeches are the people who are downlaoding the files. you can also call the people who download at a fast speed and very slow upload speed, and stop seeding the moment there downlaod is finished. these guys are pricks. so smash one up if you ever get to see one in real life who is doing this... and then let us know on here how fun it was...lol
