Torture in Palestinian jails 'systematic': HRW

The Palestinian security forces "systematically" abuse and torture opponents and critics in what could amount to crimes against humanity and undermine Palestinian accusations against Israel, Human Rights Watch said Tuesday.

"Systematic torture as part of a government policy is a crime against humanity," said Omar Shakir, HRW's Israel-Palestine director.
The rival authorities of the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas both used threats, arbitrary arrests and violent abuse, including beatings, electric shocks and stress positions, the New York-based rights group said in a report released in Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

Both particularly focus on those allegedly affiliated with the rival faction, including protesters, dissidents, journalists and bloggers, with the aim of crushing dissent, the report said.
The PA rejected the allegations, accusing Human Rights Watch of allying with the US government.

Shakir said the allegations undermined Palestinian criticism of Israeli rights abuses.
"You have Palestinian leaders going around the world speaking about Palestinian rights at the same time as they are directing a machinery of oppression to crush dissent," he said.

and people wonder why the news coming out of gaza strip is always so bad?

anything positive is prohibited/beaten/tortured out of journalists/bloggers by the Hamas censors, to get more aid money for tunnels...

in many ways one could compare them to the DPRK.
 
And these same people cry foul when their "protesters" go into known no-go areas and are shot at by Israel troops.

Their bulk meat deals are not too shabby. Besides I find their meat to be clean and not smelly like other places which makes a big difference for me.

I buy the best lamb and boerewors for R89/kg and R79/kg at the butchers. You point to the lamb and they chop it up.

That's why I have 3 freezers in my garage...people that walk into a Woolies and buy a packet of lamb chops are nuts.

Pay R88/kg for lamb and they weren't tortured.
