Government breaks e-tolls promise — coming for people who refused to pay

The Gauteng Provincial Government under premier Panyaza Lesufi (pictured) has broken its promise that motorists who had paid e-tolls were off the hook.

The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa) noted the reversal, citing a Moneyweb interview with National Treasury deputy director-general Mampho Modise.

am genuinely surprised they dont just start with the Etoll courts, and those mobile vans with etoll equipment in it.

They could try recovering the debt from the trillions of rand stolen by corrupt members of the ANC and their cronies instead of attempting to persecute the general public with their immoral legislation.

They don't actually have to collect the money. They just have to say that these debts are still due and then they don't have to reimburse the people who paid. Sit back until the debt has prescribed so that they can remove the impairment from their books and then proceed to ignore the issue thereafter.

BTW: I can't pay my account since my laptop broke and therefore all those emails are now gone.
