Hi,

I've been looking at a new "business" phone for the last few days. I've played around with most of the new touchscreen phones, but find them not ideal of SMS'ing or typing n general. I do about 10 SMSs per day and 10 emails. I've now come to the point that I'm rather certain of getting a HTC Touch Pro2.

Any views/opinions/suggestions?

I have been playing around on my brother's touch pro 2. Very good phone. Before I went for my hero, i was considering either the diamond2 or touch pro2.

Why the Hero then? I'm seriously confused at this stage. I've been to the lab88 shop twice this week.

The touch pro 2 is a very big phone. For me personally, they keyboard was not that important. That left the diamond 2. Then i played with the hero and was converted. Android is a much newer, fresher platform. From a geek perspective, I enjoy it a lot more. The apps that are being written for android devices are awesome.
That being said, I think the Diamond2 or Touch Pro 2 are probably better business phones.

what about the hd2 capacitive screen 1Ghz of power, if all goes well i get it tomorrow, oh and 4.3"s of screen :)

I had a look at it yesterday...the massive screen is good and bad all in one. It is a lovely screen if you are looking for a big one, but it is too big for a phone IMHO, abeit very thin.

I just type too much, so I need a full qwerty keyboard.

I've had my TP2 since September last year, and I can definitely reccomend it for lots of typing. The keyboard takes some getting used to if you come from a phone with a standard keypad, but once you get up to speed, it makes typing so much faster and accurate. If you do get one, make sure you do the free update to Windows Mobile 6.5, it is a nice step up from 6.1. Although there are plenty of other phones out there with better processor, screen, camera etc, few have a decent hardware keyboard.

The phone is heavy, but not that heavy that it becomes a burden.

Thanks, I've demo'd most of the "other phones", but I can just not get to like a full touchscreen phone.

I've had my TP2 for nearly a year now and I love it.
I would agree with Asha'man X that it's a bit heavy.. at first anyway. Not so heavy that you don't adjust to the weight or that it becomes uncomfortable to carry - my TP2 lives in my front pocket.

It's fast & responsive with loads of features. And whatever you want that isn't pre-installed is easy to come by with such a mature WM market.
If you really want to speed it up even more, turn of the TF3D.

The keyboard also took a bit of getting used to, but it's a breeze now.
I've also been using the Swype keyboard for short bits of typing - really nice keyboard and speeds up the touch-typing quite a lot.

I haven't regretted getting this phone for one second.

But I must also admit that I haven't personally tried out Android so say that WM is better. But I do there's a better market and a lot more support available for WM.
As a business phone, I don't think you can go wrong.

I started this thread shortly after getting the phone: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?182555-HTC-Touch-Pro-2-(Fortress)
I'd like to just point out that the phone does have a radio & GPS, I initially thought it didn't
