So Asus just released this:

HDMI IN+OUT, USB 3.0 ports etc. Nice.

It seems the retail price here in SA for that thing is at least R12.3K.... ouch.

I've always wanted a nice stylishly mounted (24/7 low energy use) touch screen PC in my living room that serves as Media Center for easy music selection etc, File server and the works. Add Win8 and Metro apps in future and it's sure to be awesome.

The best option of course is to build a custom case that allows for upgrades and throw a decent touch screen into the mix, hide the box and do decent cable management and it'll look good too. The problem is, I can't seem to find a place in S.A. that seems to sell decent touch screens. I'll need it to be 23-24 inch.

Does anyone have any idea where I can find one, or maybe have such a thing and can comment on its use?
Of course no flex on the screen and decent response rates is a must. The touch screen on that Asus look perfect, surely there must be a stand-alone monitor out there that can do the same...

I'm just going to latch onto this old thread....

For a reasonable-processor standalone PC with touch screen, it seems R10k or R11k is the going rate currently for 21.5". These are quite heavy, if they fall over you could have real damage.

If one could buy a quality touch screen LCD for (I won't even need 23" myself, 19" or 20" would be OK) for say R3k? you could connect it onto any PC or laptop you already have - giving you great flexibility with your hardware.

It could then be fixed to a sturdy bracket to
1. Avoid vibration/ wobbling when touching it.
2. Clear your working area for greater space (it would hang above your desk)

Strange that this seems a rare offering.

A mouse can get quite sore on the fingers if used the entire day, every day...
