Hi guys

So I was looking to install the latest CyanFox ROM with KitKat, but I needed a newer version of CWM. So I tried flashing one with Odin, and it passed. Just after it restarted the screen went blue with black stripes and flickered for a bit. Since then the touch doesn't work anymore.

I was able to install a different CWM which worked, as well as ROMS, which install fine. But it only gets to the start up screen and you can't go further without touch.

So then I flashed back to stock ROM hoping it'll fix the issue. This reverted recovery mode to stock, as well. Unfortunately still no luck.

Any ideas? People with similar problems?

From what I've read it could be the digitizer that got blown. I can still take it back under warranty, but can't use triangle away on account of not being able to get into the phone...

Thanks in advance.

Is that what you wanted to say?

I think you can unroot it again using your pc.

I have rooted phones before using the command prompt in Windows, maybe you can try that method. If you can manage to unroot it using the same method, you can take it back under warranty.

Triangle away is an app that you can use to remove the root counter.

But yeah, when I reboot from recovery mode the Android robot falls over with a red triangle in his tummy. :/

Sounds like the recovery didn't flash, then. Possibly a corrupted bootloader.

Which device do you have?

Cable Kiosk. LINK

Thanks. Will have a look around some shops in lunch, otherwise go the online route.

Samsung Galaxy SIII.

But if it was a corrupted bootloader wouldn't the phone not boot at all? It boots and goes into the OS and waits for me to select the language to proceed.

Samsung's are weird in a corrupt bootloader still allowing them to boot at times. Seen this a number of times on my previous devices.

Are you able to boot into fastboot mode? If you can, it may be worth it to flash an updated boot image onto your device.

EDIT: Wait, before I proffer further, and possibly irrelevant, advice- the stock ROM that you flashed does work, except for the touch on the digitiser, and you're basically looking for a way to remove the triangle indicating that you have rooted the device? A USB jig would probably be your best option, then. I have one laying around that I have no use for anymore. If you're in JHB, you can have it.

Hmm, damnit. This complicates matters. How would I know? I just got it from Samsung-updates.com and nothing seemed amiss...

I don't know, sorry. How would I check this?

I did have the latest CWM recovery on there and it didn't help...

Well, from what I can gather it seems the digitiser is fried? The blue screen with black strips and flashing didn't bode well...

I'm not in JHB, but I might take you up on that jig offer if I can't find an OTG cable. My goal is basically to remove the flash counter and take it back to Samsung under warranty...

Thanks for the help so far. :)

I skipped the rest because it sounds like this is a definite hardware issue. I also have an OTG cable that I don't use, either. PM me your address and I'll post both to you.
